If Gurriel made the last out, Baker was going to take out Greinke and let the new pitcher lead off the next inning? Or pinch hit for that pitcher and go through his bullpen even faster?

Greinke was getting congratulations from Baker and others. The announcers were speculating that he was done. Maybe Dusty would have pinch hit in next inning. Most relievers are 1 inning pitchers these days.

I hope the series ends tomorrow.

I still have not watched the series closely.

If the Astros win Game 6, I think they will win Game 7 as well. The Braves have to end it tonight. Of course, I thought the Astros would win the series in 5 games, so what do I know?

Go Braves!

I don't like the Astros players and I don't like the Braves fans. Hard to have a rooting interest. I guess it would be for the Stros to win in 7 and send the Braves fans home unhappy?

I'm hoping for the Braves, but the tomahawk chop is incredibly embarrassing. Chiefs fans were doing it last night too. Just brutal.

And the fact that the Braves and Chiefs just ripped it from FSU, but continue to fight against getting rid of it is DUMB.

Something odd:

In the last 2 postseasons, the Braves have been in 3 7-game series in which they led 3-1, but lost Game 5. They ended up winning one and losing one of the previous two. How it will turn out this time?

Always good to see an underdog win it all- even better it was vs the Astros.

"Wait till next year" has begun for all 29 teams.

The atlanta braves are world series champions! Never would have imagined it. Congrats to atlanta.

Certainly would not have been my pick when they were 52-54 at the trade deadline. A lot was made of their deadline acquisitions' play throughout the series, but really, the question of "why were they even buyers?" should have been part of it...

Because, like you said, they played in the NLE.

That did help.

but still, while that helped the get in, they still had to play the games. Score one more point for randomness in the postseason...

If they played in the NLW they would have been dead meat, and sellers at the deadline.

Eddie Rosario = NLCS MVP

Jorge Soler = World Series MVP

Yes, this postseason was good times for the Crapshoot Believers.

Neither player was even on the Braves on July 29.

And as many people pointed out last off-season, Rosario just seems to be one guy who gets overlooked far too often. He was a terrific player in Minnesota for several years, and garnered almost no interest last off-season...

I do remember there was some chatter here about signing him.

Ditto. I was on bard with the idea, but his asking price just might have gone up a tad, nd OF is really not the Sox biggest need right now, unless they do move Kike back to 2B. But even then, Rosario is not a good mix because he would necessitate moving Verdugo to CF, where he is a question mark...

They could trade Renfroe.

Could they really? No one wanted him last year when his price was clearly just $3mill. This year he will command a raise and necessitate giving up prospects or something to acquire...

We wanted him.

There are several points to be made here:

1) We could trade him for equal salary from a position of need (RP?)

2) We signed him for $3.1M coming off a .645 short season in 2020 and .778 in 2019. (.749 from 2019-2020 in 633 PA)

3) He had one of the best RBI/PA on the Sox. (32 HRs & 99 RBI over the full season plus playoffs)

4) If we can't trade him for scraps, why offer him the estimated $7M arb?

The arb raises we have seen in recent years negate the '6 years of cheap control' premise. Here's Renfroe, who was a good deal in 2021, suddenly looking like a questionable investment for 2022 and maybe even a non-tender candidate.

Which raises the question of where the scale of arb salaries come from. Is it in the CBA?

I don't see the Red Sox non-tendering Renfroe.

Of course, CJ Cron seems to get non-tendered and let walk every year despite hitting 87 HRs over the past 4 seasons...

Over the past four years:

HR: Suarez

AVG: Brantley

OBP: Trout

R: Betts

RBI: Abreu

WRC+: Trout

BsR: Ramirez

fWAR: Betts

K%: Sano

BB%: Soto
