Or, Kyle to LF, Verdugo to RF, Kike stays in CF and Iggy pairs with Arroyo at 2B and Casas with Dalbec at 1B. (Renfroe is the expensive 4th OF'er or is traded for a RP'er.)

Mine was much simpler. One transaction....

Freeman isn't a step in the right direction, either. He doesn't improve the defense, which is the Sox' biggest weakness besides pitching -- though metrics have shown the latter was worse because of the defense.

Wouldn't it be better to use the money it would take to sign Freeman (who at least one poster covets) and spread it around to upgrade actual areas that are priorities, like on the mound?

The Sox are not going to sign Freeman. I know it. You know it. Bloom knows it. Even Freeman knows it,

But he is a better defensive first baseman than Dalbec.

Other than maybe throwing Schwarber into the mix, I would prefer the Sox pretty much ignore 1B. I'm OK with Dalbec, maybe more satisified than most at least with his offense, which was among the best for AL 1Bman after mid-June. And the Sox still have Casas, as well...

Only offensive needs are 4th OFer and 2B. I wouldn't be shocked if the only offensive move was to bring Iggy back.

$$$ will go mostly to pitching, unless they are extending current players.

Let's say he'll (Devers) get $11M arb, this year and $21M, next year: that's $32M/2. I'd add that to $268M/10 and make it an even $300M/12 as the top offer.

We could probably get him to go for an 8-9 year deal.

I can't wait until Kimmi sees THIS! :D:D

I bet they spend less on pitching than most people expect.

Also didn’t they get the fourth outfielder already in Locastro?

Management source on the state of CBA negotiations: “As bad as I’ve ever see it.” Prediction: “2 1/2 months of pain”

I hope they can do better than that.

And yes, they will not bring the pitching back that we are hoping for today.

Well they’ve been linked to Suzuki and Schwarber…

But only one, if any.

I wonder, if Bloom is thinking of trading Renfroe, if he does add an OF'er.

(I suppose he could trade Verdugo, instead.)

Well maybe for a starting 2b?

So far the only players connected to the Red Sox this early in the offseason are 1B/DH/LF Kyle Schwarber and 3B/SS/RF Seiya Suzuki. Two guys who play six positions the Sox don't need help at...

Don’t blame me. I’m not the GM/President of Ops linking the Sox to these guys. I’m just coming up with radical theories to explain them.

And Locastro is the fourth outfielder. End of story. I’ve made up my mind on that!!

Nocastro!

Maybe he meant Kike to 2B to make room for an OF'er.

Much like everyone Bloom signs, Suzuki apparently has experience in both the infield and the outfield just to keep everyone guessing at the defensive alignments…

The price tag fits.

I picked Matz coming here on the MLBTR FA selection contest.

I also picked Graveman and ERod & Jon Gray, but I think we sign just 2 SP'er not 3.
