SPLENDIDSPLINTER Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) Z.Greinke(RH) vs N.Pivetta(RH) Usually a manager will tell his pitcher don't let this one batter beat you. In the case of the Astros, the manager will tell his pitcher don't let any of these 5 SOX batters beat you. Hitting 3 grand slams in 2 consecutive games isn't supposed to happen in real life. The SOX going this deep in the PO's this season wasn't supposed to happen in real life. Well, screw real life and let's continue on with this fantasy. Go SOX! iortiz Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Well said. I don’t want to sound cocky but sometimes you really have to believe in your chances. The Boston Red Sox have all in their favor to make the WS this year at this point. Astros’ pitching is taxed and not in a very good shape, while their offense is struggling. It’s going to be likely anoooother BP day for them. Squeeze those arms. Greinke hasn't pitched in a month and a he has a bad history pitching at Fenway park, but the most important thing is that our offense is unreal right now. Said that the table is served to win tonight and take a big step to the WS. Who would say, this team all in the sudden is the fav to advance to the WS. Plain crazy. Let’s f go!
Maxbialystock Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 When JDM is batting 6th, which he did last night, then Greinke has to worry about six Sox hitters. Renfroe, 7th, is struggling, but Vazquez is looking OK, and Arroyo is pretty good for the 9th hitter.

Worked a few walks too. He'll get going.. if it's not one guy, it's another. That's the hallmark of a great team and so far this post season this team has been just that.
a700hitter Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I would like to see Dalbec get some swings.
Maxbialystock Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I would like to see Dalbec get some swings. Not me. These days I think of him as bobby d because he's 0 for 11 in the postseason with 5 K's. And no how, no way do I want to seem him bump Schwarber off of 1b.
YastrzemskI Verified Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I would like to see Dalbec get some swings. The production at 1st base has been excellent. Why mess with a good thing.

And no how, no way do I want to seem him bump Schwarber off of 1b. I would also be disinclined to mess with this lineup. Every AB is individual but these guys seem to be hitting better as a team moving the line , with more disciplined AB, taking walks that are offered. Vaz is holding up his end, the top 6 guys are alive and eating well. Arroyo's HR was welcome and Hunter is always capable of losing one. Dalbec benefitted from frequent play but has lost his batting eye. Don't disturb what is working until it doesn't. That could happen on any given night .

moonslav59 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I wouldn’t mind seeing Schwarber getting bumped to LF and Verdugo to RF. I thought of that, too. We could trade Renfroe while his value was high or trade JD and use Renfroe as a DH and 4th OF'er. Dalbec-Casas at 1B could offer a very productive and very low cost solution.

a700hitter Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 He's just talking about tonight's game, I think... Yes. I think Dalbec had been putting some good swings in his most recent ABs. I think he is ready to launch some bombs.
moonslav59 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 He's just talking about tonight's game, I think... Ahhh, I think Renfroe might be into "It's my time" mode. I wouldn't change anything. Keep flipping Kike and Schwarber at 1-2 and Verdugo & JD at 4-5 and roll the dice.
mvp 78 Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Schwarber 1B, Hernández CF, Devers 3B, Bogaerts SS, Verdugo LF, Martinez DH, Renfroe RF, Vázquez C, Arroyo 2B

Dalbec can't hit the heat. Greinke doesn't have heat. I thought it would have been a good chance to put him in there.
mvp 78 Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 It's 55 and Renfroe is wearing a beanie. He started off April really slow. Maybe he doesn't like the cold.
moonslav59 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Schwarber 1B, Hernández CF, Devers 3B, Bogaerts SS, Verdugo LF, Martinez DH, Renfroe RF, Vázquez C, Arroyo 2B Cora has found a consistent order that works. He flips Schwarber-Kike and Verdugo-JD vs righties, and he plays Plawecki with Eovaldi. This is it.

Bellhorn04 Community Moderator Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 In 27 career postseason games, J.D. Martinez has a 1.021 OPS and 30 RBI.

Maxbialystock Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 (edited) Braves now up 4-2 in the bottom of the 4th in LA. Buehler disintegrated in the top of the 4th when the Dodgers had a 2-0 lead. Announcers talking exclusively about the Dodgers--Mookie's at bat--almost as if the Braves aren't there. Braves starter Morton at 85 pitches in the 4th inning. Edited October 19, 2021 by Maxbialystock
d-money Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 Go sawx!!!! Need Pivetta to hold it down tonight.
cp176 Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 i'm loving me some Schwarber. he is a must in there for me. i don't know what becomes of Dalbec. Still just a kid. A healthy Arroyo makes a really big difference in this lineup. Hernandez can stay in center where we need him and second base is taken care of. oh by the way yup, I would do would i could do to sign Schwarber as well. He just seems to fit up here in new England.
YastrzemskI Verified Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 5-2 Braves in the 5th in case anyone is interested.

Thru 5 now.. 5-2 Braves

If the Sox win tonight, which is far from a sure thing, both teams could win their 4th tomorrow. Sox won 92 games this year, the Braves 88.

Someone mentioned playoffs are a crapshoot especially if you get hot at the end of the year .
d-money Old-Timey Member Posted October 19, 2021 Posted October 19, 2021 I can’t wait for people to say to have realignment if the dodgers lose this series. Give me a damn break. Division winners should be honored. It’s rare to have two 100 win teams in the same division.
