This is why I don't like Vazquez--but also don't mind giving him credit when he calls a good game.

 

In the top of the first he calls for 9 fastballs in 11 pitches, resulting in one very hard hit out and one hard hit dinger.

 

In the top of the second with two on and two out and a weak hitter at the plate, he calls for two knuckle curves, both balls, one a wild pitch, before he finally, finally calls for fast balls.

It was low and inside. I agree he "squared it up," but also think he was lucky. Plus it was a 3-1 count and a walk would have loaded the bases.
