Death to all 8pm games.

Aaaaaamen!!! The entire west coast can go suck an egg in bucket. Baseball was invented on the east coast.

One could say that it was nice to see some much needed social distancing taking place in Florida in that part of the ballpark last night

Social distancing has never been a problem at the Trop since day one.

Sighhh

Driving home from work and listening to Vin Scully was never a bad thing when I lived in LA.

Cora has become a regular Captain Hook lately. Let's see if he gives Sale a little longer leash tonight.

Every manager these days is descended from Captain Hook. Just ask Cash, and he'll tell you that letting a starter face the the opposing lineup a third time is fraught with peril.

Cash and Cora both chose to have 13 pitchers for the ALDS despite the travel days after games 2 and 4. So both expect to "hook 'em, horns!"

As for Sale, I'm hoping he can go 4 or 5 innings because five days ago against the Nats he only went 2.2.

True. I liked listening to Curt Gowdy calling Sox games.

I don't get the worry about the 13 pitchers. Who is more likely to get used in a 5 game series: the 13th pitcher or the 3rd catcher?

The 4th catcher, even.

I can't imagine a Kevin Cash managed team playing an insanely long game like Game 3 in 2018. He would probably use all 13 if it went 16+ innings.

He was in a class by himself. The man had a memory like a computer.

There is Vin Scully and then there is everyone else. Classic voice, classic style and the man had substance. HOWEVER… my favorite is Jon Miller. He used to call games on ESPN with Morgan and I still miss those broadcasts to this day. ESPN’s play by play team is just a shell of what it used to be. The Giants are lucky that they have Jon Miller calling their games.. at least I think he still works there.

Just listen to this call by Jon Miller calling a Red Sox postseason game.. perfection.

I'm not worried about 13 pitchers either. With two bye dates in a five game ALDS, 11 should be plenty. But Cash and Cora both want 13. Bullpens rule.

Well, then, just maybe you and mvp 78 are out of touch with the latest thinking about rosters. As am I. Bullpens are in, and extra catchers aren't.

Vin Scully, an east coast guy, born in Manhattan, educated at Fordham, and a Brooklyn announcer until he was dragged to LA.

This is not like the regular season where you play 9-10 games every 11 days.

The only way even a 12th pitcher is needed would be in a mop up role or an 18 inning game, which is nearly impossible with the new rules in place.

Huh? I don't want a 3rd catcher.

Miller spent 2 or 3 years in Boston as Ken Coleman's radio sidekick; it was the late 70s or early 80's. IIRC, he moved on to Baltimore as their main guy.

Those rules don't apply in the postseason. It's traditional extra inning baseball.

They pulled the starter out how early last night?

Exactly. Good point.

They only used 5 pitchers, last night.

The way the schedule is set up, we can use every RP'er in every game, as long as it's not in long relief.

With only 3-4 pitchers starting, that's 9-10 RP'er available, every game.

Let's look at today: (We have tomorrow off.)

No Pivetta, Eovaldi or ERod.

We have 10 guys available. We could pull Sale in the first and still get an inning from everyone and not run out.

All would be fresh for the next game, too.

(If this is a "throwing day" for Eovaldi, he could go for a batter or two, as well.)

Hey, we went with 3 catchers in the one and done game. It's not a crazy idea to think 12 pitchers is enough for 6 games in 11 days.

These divisional series could end quickly. I mean houston is making the white sox look silly.

It was close until the CWS RF'er misjudged a line shot, and the flood gates opened.
