I think Schwarber’s contribution has been a little overrated since coming to Boston, and that Bobby D, and Renfroe have better stats than Schwaber since his arrival.Schwaber’s first home run in almost 3 weeks.

Schwarber was 3 for 8 with 3 HRs vs this starter.

He deserved to start over Renfroe not Dalbec, IMO.

Renfroe and Schwarber have both played well since the deadline, but I do not believe recent performance projects future performance. If we went by that theory, Dalbec would never have gotten a chance to get hot.

Again, I wanted Dalbec starting. Schwarber, too.

You lost me at “Cora sucks.”

BTW, the 3 guys Dalbec could have started instead of- Renfroe, JD or Schwarber are 4 for 4 with 2 HRs, a 2B and 5 RBI.

Yes, Cora sucks! Lol

Schwarber owns Walker and the whole Walker family. This is the 7th straight game the SOX have scored 6 or more runs. They haven't done that since 2006.

We did it in April of 2018.

For the season, JDM is better vs. righty or lefty pitcher. For August and September, Dalbec is better.

On the other hand, against a righty, JDM has hit the ball hard twice for a single and a double. The double was off a slider that was up, but also on outside of the plate.

Just read a neat piece on why Sale tonight instead of against the Yankees. Reason #1: a start tonight gives Sale two more starts this season, but waiting two days for the Yankees makes his next start, Sep 29 vs. the Orioles, his last. Reason #2: maybe Sale isn't ready for the all those righty Yankee bats. In his latest start vs. the Orioles he had just 1 K and had to rely on pitching to contact. His fastball is in the low 90's. Reason #3: a win tonight is still a dadgum win for the home team.

Great summary of the reasons for Sale tonight. i still contend that a win on April 25th has exactly the same weight as September 25th when the final totalling of W-L's is done. WIN the game you are now playing. You cannot win tomorrow's game tonight.

Now setting up a rotation where Sale and EO are both available for a WC game makes some sense.

Maybe it's a coincidence, but since Iggy has been an everyday player the SOX have shifted into a higher gear.

I fully realize why we will be going with Arroyo in the WC game and after if we win that one, but Jose Iglesias has energized the bottom of this order and also brought sharper defense into play.

Will Iggy get an FA offer from multiple teams, including the Sox over the winter. Maybe just a non-roster invite from Boston. Anyway, it's been a great run since 9/3 for him and the team. They were sucking wind significantly before Iggy cranked up the volume.

Iglesias gets a little luck on the missed catch but runs hard and scores as a result

That's a minimum 120 yard sprint which many NFL'ers would have trouble with

From statements credited to Iggy he wants to stay here.

Kyle Schwarber=Professional Hitter. Sox have to find a way to sign him for next year and beyond.

I can only see that happening if the SOX can trade JD during the off season. I'm pretty sure Bloom's priority will be pitching.

Amazing play by Iggy. Hopefully he's back with the SOX next season.

This was a great pick up by Bloom. He has been very valuable since arriving. Bloom brought in Schwarber, Robles, Davis and Iggy without giving up much.

Why wouldn't he want to stay with the best franchise in baseball and play before sell out crowds every night. I hope the Sox bring him back too. It will depend on how much he wants because Arroyo is fairly cheap.

Schwarber's contribution has been HUGE. I'm not just talking about his stats. He is great in the clubhouse and it is obvious that Red Sox hitters have become more selective and patient since they have been able to watch Kyle at the plate. His influence on Dalbec has been tremendous, as Dalbec has acknowledged.

Those are called intangibles that are rarely publicized. I posted yesterday the intangibles that Bogey also provides for the SOX. Sometimes it's more than just what happens on the field.

Agree 100%.

Even if JD remains on the team and Schwarber isn't re-signed, the SOX will still have enough offense. Sale and EO will need some consistent help in the starting rotation. Starting pitching is the main reason the SOX aren't leading the AL East.

And as I have posted before, it would be great if both Houck and Whitlock pitched out of the BP.
