Just a disgrace the way this team has wilted and folded. No excuse for the offense whatsoever. This is worse than 2011 in my opinion. Edited by d-money

It's barely August.

2011 had a fine rotation and good hitting.

Not even close. That team was 83-52 going into September and went 7-20 from there. Heck they ended August 7 at 70-43. That team had a better pitching staff and a better offense than this year's version. That month, they went 1-2 against Texas, 2-5 vs. Baltimore, 1-3 vs New York, 1-6 against Tampa and 2-4 vs. Toronto.

All they had to do was win one more game against Tampa and they were in the playoffs. One more win against anyone else and they had a playoff game with the Rays.

That was a collapse for the ages by a pretty good team. This year's team has never been in that category.

Hopefully, Pivetta will not let the loss affect his confidence.

Let's hope Houck leads the way, tonight, and Sale gives us a jolt, next week.

I don’t care. This team has completely folded. You’re making excuses for them. Not to mentioned the organization got taken to school at the trading deadline.

Funny, when the SOX were winning and the Yankems weren't, you very rarely showed up. That you're showing up now must be a coincidence.

Oh, and your condescending posts are tiresome.

He was no where to be found when the Sox were kicking the Yankees ass. Now he comes out of the woodwork like the troll he is. I don't know how anybody in here even talks with the TROLL.

It was indeed an epic collapse. And it definitely gave the whole chicken and beer thing more notoriety than it otherwise would have gotten.

Anybody have any overall stats on these 7 inning double headers. It does make some sense that pitching would dominate if the starter now thinks he he will have done his job if he gets through not 6, not 5 but 4 innings and hands the game to the bullpen for the final 3.

Frankly, I never liked the so called "quality start" moniker for 6 innings of work and I loath the new 5 innings is just fine thing. Heck that is just twice through the batting order assuming a few hits/BB's.

RHP Nick Pivetta (8-4, 4.57) vs LHP Robbie Ray (9-5, 3.04)

I'm coming to the rescue!

A valiant effort, but in this game, despite Pivetta's best effort, the offense utterly failed and Barnes gave up the game winning dinger.

Verdict on yesterday: when you score 1 run in regulation time in 2 games, consider yourself lucky to walk away with a split.
