I’m on the road, but this is urgency time.

I’ve seemed to morph into a one win and done thread starter, but at this point that may be the best we can hope for.

To me, Pivetta has the best chance out of our bottom 3 starters at turning things around, so what better time than now.

The magic returns, tonight.

Ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows, ebbs and flows....

We'll be back. Hopefully tonight, but if not, soon. Not time to panic yet.

Getting close though. We are now out of first in the division….. Yankees are creeping up. This team needs to start winning….. another 3 or 4 losses and it gets really ugly

Again, I'm not worried yet. You may be, and that's fine, but I don't appreciate being told how I should feel about something.

For those in panic mode, here are some numbers to consider:

16-11

14-12

14-13

15-12

11-13

13-12

15-10

15-10

13-14

19-6

Those were the July records of all the Red Sox teams that made the playoffs this century. The ones in bold won the World Series. The only one that had a great July was the 2018 team and that team was incredibly consistent all season.

Other than the name on the front of the uniform, is anyone confusing this team with that one in any way, shape or form?

This year, the Sox went 13-12 in July. To hear some of you, they went 0 for the month. As Thunder said, ebbs and flows.

Hey you have to be better than me. The few times I take on a game thread, everybody else has to be asleep at the switch at game time and I put up a game thread at that time. Usually the forum is screaming for my head half way through the game and rightfully so!

We had this discussion on another thread, maybe last night's, and everyone agreed it is good for talksox to have differing perspectives and that everyone is absolutely entitled to his/her opinion. I myself am pessimistic, but am happy to read posts from the optimists.

Which shirt you are wearing, whether the fans are optimistic or pessimistic , and whoever starts the game thread really has no effect whatsoever on the outcome of the game. And there is no such thing as magic or mojo. But it's always a good idea for the manager to call a team meeting before a game where you are more likely to win. I guess it works that way with games threads too.

Completely agree that fans, especially us on talksox, have zero effect on game outcomes. But so what? Game threads--all threads, for that matter--are fun.

A baseball game is fun too. At least it's supposed to be. And having fun is good. Have fun.

Take a different look on tonight's game. We are competing with a good team for first place. The bats bust loose and we win, voila---first place again. Doesn't take a lot of thought. Lick your wounds and force your will on the opponent. Win today's game, it's the only one being contested.

If there's no such thing as 'magic' or 'mojo,' then how the hell are these SOX 20 games over .500?

They've played good baseball most of the time. It's just our starting pitching that's been letting us down.

The Red Sox always seem to be facing a lefty....

I would get Duran in there over Verdugo. Verdugo sucks against lefties and he did nothing yesterday.

I can understand trying to protect the rookie, but it's not like you are violating the laws of the universe by giving Duran a start against a lefty. Moreover, as I already stated, Verdugo sucks against lefties anyway.

They don't look confident right now. They don't look like they are having any fun.

They look pathetic. No urgency whatsoever. I think bloom killed the energy with this team by not making a move to get better.

A walk to the 9th place hitter and a hr lol. It’s embarrassing how this team is playing. Seriously just embarrassing. Smh. Football season around the corner.
