Ultimately, if the Sox decide to go for it after all (depending on their record by the deadline) I just don't think either one of these guys will prevent the team from adding a legitimate MLB outfielder to the 26.

I doubt they add one not named Duran...

I concur (an odd compound word that in dual languages translates to "with a dog").

Why not "with a scoundrel"?

So what does recur translate to - "about a dog"? Or incur - "not a dog"?

And "occur" is a dog in Southern California?

I think the plan for this summer is to add Brasier, Sale and Duran and whatever we can get with the few million we have below the lux tax line.

Watch Sale become that late-inning option leading to Barnes... sure, he makes too much dough to be a reliever, but it might makes sense when they begin to ease him back into a workload, throwing an inning or two a couple times a week.

I can't think of many instances where a top starter- paid a lot or not, did not come back as a starter.

John Smoltz. Carlos Zambrano.

Chris Sale was also very briefly moved into the closer role in 2012 due to elbow tightness. He had one appearance as a closer, blew the save, and was promptly returned to the rotation...

Yes, two is not many instances, and Zambrano was still used as a starter all the way to the end of his career.

Zambrano relived for the Cubs for a while. All 3 did return to starting roles. Even Smoltz, who was a starter for the last 5 seasons of his career, including briefly in Boston...

Schilling did it, too, in Boston; I remember, because ARoid got him one game in Fenway. Eovaldi moved to the pen in '19 for a spell -- I think after a stint on the DL.

Everything Eovaldi has done in his career came after a stint on the DL/IL...

That 474 foot Home Run was a nice reminder of why the Sox have Francy out there. The potential is huge, getting pretty tough to defend the guy with his performance at this point but it's there.
