I like this team. We need to jettison the chaff. But we are one hitter away from a standout season.....so far. And shy a starter or two from really being good.

WTF Dalbec though. I had high hopes.

Dalbec is an automatic out. I thought he was going to splash early in the season too.

Pitching gave up 3 runs in regulation. Overall, it was fine. Whitlock didn’t have it tonight. Whether it was the moment or it was just a bad night remains to be seen.

To this garbage team. Giving up 6 runs is unacceptable. I’m not saying it was the starter or bullpen. But lately we have scored 5 or more and aren’t winning because the pitching whether it be the starter of bullpen isn’t good enough. No way we should be losing to this bottom feeding team when we put up 5 runs. Just can’t happen

The Sox got more calls from the home plate ump than the Tigers did.

Great dinger by JDM to tie it in the 8th.

But not a great decision by Cora to leave Perez in to finish the 6th with men on 2d and 3d.

Except for Whitlock, the BP--Taylor, Sawamura, Ottavino, and Barnes--did a good job.

Before that 2 run single in the 6th, Perez had a good start. But Mize of the Tigers was clearly better.

Statistically, Detroit had a reasonable shot at winning 1 of 3 games against a team that is 9-10 over their last 19 games.

Detroit cannot hit yet have scored 13 runs over 19 innings vs Sox pitching. Everyone knew the wheels were coming off the Sox wagon. Every team has a run in them during 162, the Sox just had theirs 4 games into the season. 1 game up in the L column you are now, and with one more vs Detroit and a 4 gamer vs Baltimore coming, you’ll likely hold the division for one more week

We have given up 13 runs to a hysterically bad offensive team lmao. Our pitching is f***ing garbage lately. Starters, bullpen. Doesn’t matter. Scoring 5 tonight and we still didn’t win. Sadly, this is the pitching I was expecting though.

Our top 6 slots all got on base 2 times. Usually, it's just the top 4 or 5.

We can't keep getting 1 for 14 from our bottom 3. I'm all for sticking with players for long enough sample sizes to make some sort of meaningful determination, but we need some jolt from a player not named JD, Bogey, Devers or Verdugo. Kike is fine as a role player, and maybe Marwin & Arroyo can give us just enough, but we can't keep this up for much longer.

The minor are up and running. We should start giving someone else a shot. My guess is Santana gets the first look. Cordero gets demoted.

Then, I'd dump the 14th pitcher (Brice or Taylor) and call up someone else. Maybe Chavis or add Munoz to the 40. Maybe roll the dice with Duran or even Ockimey.

I'm usually the patient one.

Times up.

As I said in other post. DFA Cordero. Call up Duran. DFA Brice. Call up Houck.

Also, send down Dalbec and call up Chavis. Kid needs to work down there and gain confidence again. He’s lost in the plate.

These moves will improve a lot this team.Don’t need to wait until it is summer.

Probably be another week to 10 days; they’ll want to get any replacements 7 or 8 games of live competition.

Cordero will not be DFA'd. He has options left and can try to earn another look at the AAA level.

Chavis does deserve another look- perhaps his final one.

Houck is a starter, and none of our starters have earned a demotion.

I'd probably bring up Santana for Cordero and Chavis for Taylor or Brice, but I can see sending Dalbec down.

If I bring up a pitcher, I'd probably go with Bazardo.

Agreed. Maybe 5-7 games.

Even a broken clock is right twice a day.

Even the worst MLB teams still win 50-60 games. Tigers had lost 13 of 15. They had to win at some point; I was just hoping it wouldn't be against us. I knew that both the Yanks and Sox probably wouldn't sweep them, so I was hoping they would steal one in NY before coming here.

In my mind, there's nobody to really blame for this one. Sure, blame Whitlock if you want to, or the offense for leaving people on. Renfroe left them loaded in the 6th, but he's still swinging it well. Xander left them loaded in the 9th, but he hit a rocket. Nothing wrong with the start from Perez either; that's about what we can expect from him each time out. I thought for a brief minute there in the 7th, 9th, and 10th that we had a chance of stealing this one.

Let's bring the bats this afternoon to help Nate regain form, and then go to our favorite road ballpark to play in over the years and put another beating on the Orioles. We will not face Means this time around, since he pitched yesterday and they are off today.

I agree. Dalbec stays. Chavis for Brice. Santana for Cordero. Their bench isn't big enough to absorb these guys that are absolutely struggling right now.

Tim to see Chavis?

For some reason, the Sox like Brice, and since Taylor has options, I think Chavis for Taylor is more likely- assuming they go with 13 pitchers for a while.

I can understand thinking a team who leads the league in runs scored does not place a high priority on replacing a pitcher with a bat, but our bottom 3-4 have been so bad, I think we could use an extra bat or glove on the bench.

As soon as these guys have played enough live games to be ready, I'd go Santana for Cordero and Chavis for Taylor. I'd be fine with DFA'ing Brice for Bazardo or maybe Houck.

Dalbec would get a little more time, but with Chavis and Santana on the big club, he won't be playing FT.

Time to see Chavis?

I thought opening day was the time for Chavis (no 14 pitchers), so yes, call him up as soon as he's ready.

I dunno. I think you need to give Franchy another 200-300 ABs before making any decisions. Maybe a contract extension. Can't tell anything about these small sample sizes.

Somebody make a new thread please. 1:10 start today

Done.

I think this is my second time doing this, evah.

Let's hope I bring some Texas mojo to the team.

Well, as we learned last week, Texas mojo isn't the best
