So watching the White Sox broadcast for this series’s

In the postgame show, Jason Benetti kept strongly implying the Red Sox must have cheated after struggling yesterday to starting the game with six straight hits. He even brought up Cora’s past in such a scandal (with the 2017 Astros). While he tried to say he wasn’t accusing the Red Sox of anything, he absolutely was.

His deskmate Ozzie Guillen was much more rational and pointed out flaws with Giolito today...

You mean like leaving every key pitch over the heart of the plate? First six batters: 0-2 Kike HR, 0-2 Dugie single, 2-2 JD single, 1-2 Rafie single, Vaz 0-0 single, Marwin 0-0 single

Sidetracked by my granddaughter who was in a cuddly mood. Good bounce back win. See ya tomorrow folks. Always like when they play Toronto because we are forced up here to watch the Rogers Sportsnet broadcast but I actually like Buck/Tabby/Shulman. I need a break from OB.

That's the exact opposite of what I would expect from a collab of Benetti and Guillen. Ozzie always struck me as suspect. I know Benetti well from ESPN and he seems like a standup guy

I was a little surprised.

Although Ozzie did point out Cordero can expect to be drilled a few times during the next series between the two for stealing a base (which I think was ruled as defensive indifference) with a position player on the mound. And he also said that while he would probably order it were he managing, he has managed teams where the players took it upon themselves to take care of things like that...

Yeah, but it was like they all knew what was coming.

Probably worth pointing out Benetti seemed to go through the series thinking offense was a big problem for the Red Sox last year. He didn't seem aware this team could hit...

A very good win for three reasons: stops the loss streak at 2; splits the series vs. a good White Sox team; rests the bullpen after yesterday's double-header and the Jays series starting tomorrow.

To remind: the White Sox are 4th in MLB in runs scored and have just dropped below the 11th ranked ERA, 3.70, to 12th, 3.72. Both teams have played 17 games.

That's understandable. A little uncalled for IMO given the situation

Interesting. As I recall, Cora was nailed for the 2017 season with the Astros, but no one established anything against the Sox for the 2018 season. Indeed, John Henry went public and said that, after the signal thefts involving Pedroia way back when (2016?), he had put his foot down and told everyone in the Sox organization not to do it again.

Speaking of stealing signals, you could almost bet the White Sox knew when Eovaldi was going to throw heat because they hit his fast ball hard. It was his slider, curve, and cut fastball that gave them fits.

I don't think the White Sox were stealing signals or that Eovaldi was giving something away with his motion. Rather, I think his fastball is pretty hittable if they wait for it.

Cordero was probably "wrong," but that would not justify drilling him.

Yes sir! And shows Eovaldi is having a hell of a start. 6.1 with only 3 runs given up against a great offense

If the Red Sox are caught cheating again, Cora would be through in baseball, and he knows it.

So it's a pretty serious allegation.

And then you add in the fact that the MLB is on high alert this year, especially for every single game involving the Astros, Red Sox, and AJ Hinch. If there is cheating, you can be assured that they will catch it pretty fast. The incentive to cheat this year is probably lower than its ever been.

Yes sir!!!!!who would fit that role on the Sox? JD MarJesus? Lol. Doesn’t have the same ring.

I must give an acquaintance of mine credit for that one. I don't know if he created that nickname or not, but that's where I first heard it a few years back

Interesting! Well we shall stop at nothing to nickname someone something cool on the Sox.

Last year was the first time I played The Show and a video game at all since Nintendo 1 I guess LOL!

Geez while it is so complicated to figure out how to play (very realistic and "professional") since it has a lot of modes and content, it was pretty cool but so addictive LOL so I stopped playing like 4 months ago and I think I won't play it again moving forward because of work and foremost and as I said it is so addictive lol.

Geez you fairly need at very least 3 hours per day in order to assemble a competitive team. Last year during the lockdown due the pandemia it was kind of affordable... these days? I guess only kids (and still) have the time to play this.

I heard Pedro's card is going to be available in 21. He could be easily the best card of the game.

Said that, enjoy it JB44.

Oh yeah, during the pandemic I played a ridiculous amount of this game. I was ridiculously good a baseball games when I was in HS. I was literally ranked #1 on the MLB 2k ranked leaderboard for a while and won multiple tournaments in MLB 2k11 on Xbox 360. I haven't played much baseball video games in a while and man was hitting a hard adjustment. I just don't have the reflexes and ability to hang with the elite players anymore lol.

Pedro is in the game, and as a pre-order I got to pick two of the legends available at launch between Pedro, Ken Griffey Jr, Babe Ruth, Hank Aaron, Mariano Rivera, Frank Thomas, Cal Ripken Jr, Willie Mays and Bob Gibson. I went with Pedro and Griffey.

Not to mention, the hits came from the first 6 batters. Exactly when Benetti thought the Sox were reviewing film to get signals is beyond me...

ChiSox broadcast is always garbage.

Maybe when they were looking at film of Giolito they noticed something in the pitch-tipping department.

Maybe Giolito just isn't that good? Ball don't lie.

Also, Vaz's bunt single was originally scored an error.

Looked to me that they were sitting on his change-up; with the exception of Verdugo's single, I think all of those hits were off of high change ups..

The change-ups thrown by the previous Pale Hose pitchers all weekend were down and disappeared at the last second; the one's thrown by Giolito were up and did nothing except say hit me.

Now he (or the catcher) may well have been tipping them; I don't know. But the ones he was throwing were not good ones.

Good!

Last year I raked with The Babe and Griffey. I liked Mays too. Babe took me forever the grind and Mays cost me 1 M and 3 weeks of waiting since a lot of buying orders were posted in the market lol. Good to hear they come in packs this year. Seems like the content gonna be pretty cool this year.

Let me know how Pedro's card works for you.

Enjoy it brother.

The Sox didn't have to sit -- just jump -- on the high change-ups. I don't get how an announcer can say it's cheating, when probably any other non-MLB human being with a bat would be overjoyed -- after being fed fastball in the 90s -- to see a pitch a lot slower in the same spot.

They are fans, not professional announcers.

Maybe Giolito just had a bad day. It happens to humans...
