I know I'm a dinosaur and have been around too long, but I do like to form my own opinions. I do not swear by some geek website giving their " official rankings" of MLB farm systems or telling me the trade value of players , etc. ,etc., etc. Unfortunately , that seems to be the trend. I think it is a turn off to a lot of fans, but it looks like it is becoming more prevalent all the time. We can try to ignore it and enjoy the games , but that is getting increasingly hard to do. It's just too bad.

In another example of just how stupid and tone deaf MLB and ESPN are , they rescheduled the Dodgers vs Mets day game in New York to the Sunday night game of the week tonight. This despite the fact that both teams are playing on the west coast tomorrow night. I guess they figured that this would be the game that got the highest ratings. What a way to alienate the players involved . What a way to show how greedy and dumb you can be. It served them right that the game turned out to be a blowout that people no doubt turned off early on.

I'm not sure how it "turns off fans," since most ignore them or have never heard of them.

Many of the ranking services have remarkable records of getting the rankings correct, and many times they end up being "wrong" is due, at least in part, by injuries. Sure, there have been huge misses not just by services, but by all teams' evaluation systems- see missed draft picks, mistakes made on prospects, left and right.

Many fans are drawn to paying attention to the farm and its players. They like to know what non-team biased people think about those players. Those who don't want to know, can and mostly do ignore it all, until the kid is raking it in MLB or flopping.

To each his own.

The Orioles and the Cubs both have 11 game losing streaks.

With the Cubs, it’s somewhat understandable, as they had one of the biggest fire sales in recent years, unloading Anthony Rizzo, Kris Bryant, Javier Baez and Craig Kimbrel. And the only MLB player they got back for them is out for the season.

But the Orioles? The only MLB player they dealt off their roster was Freddy Galvis…

They should change their name from the O's to the M's, but keep the cool logo.

So, the Sox have played 2 more games than the Rays and 3 more than the Yanks.

Those numbers change in the next 8 days:

Monday:

Sox: no game

Yanks v LAA

TBR v BAL

Tuesday

BOS 2 @ NYY

NYY 2 v BOS

TBR v BAL

Wednesday

BOS @ NYY

NYY v BOS

TBR v BAL

Thursday

BOS: no game

NYY v MN

TBR v BAL

FRI-SAT-SUN

BOS v TEX

NYY v MIN

TBR v CWS

MON

BOS & TBR: no games

NYY @ ATL

At this point, the Yanks will be even with us in games played and TBR will gain 1 but still be one behind us.

In Mexico we do not have access to MLBN, but just noticed that at MLBTV we are allowed to watch MLB BIG INNING (live) which is great to catch live highlights around all everyday’s games. I highly recommend it mostly if you like watch games in several TVs.

How about the Reds tying the Padres for the last WC slot?

Strength of schedule helps, but still...

Sadly, the Padres have been in a free fall, not unlike that of the Red Sox.

Not sad for Reds’ fans!

I have nothing against the Reds, and would actually like to see them make it deep into the playoffs.

That said, the NL team I have been rooting for since this offseason is the Padres.

The Cardinals are now just two games out of a wild card. That could just as easily have been the Cubs had they added a couple of pieces instead of selling off every key player at the deadline. Cheap owner. Cubs fans deserved better.

The A’s lost by allowing 2 in the top of the 9th.

They’ve lost 6 of 9 and play their next 7 games vs SFG 1, SEA 2 and NYY 3.

The A’s lost again, this time by allowing 2 in the 8th to lose 2-1.

We gain a half game and are now tied for the WC2 slot.

Woot! Baby steps.

The A's are imploding as much as we are! Watch out for the Jays and M's!

Interestingly enough, the Jays are 3-7 in their last 10, just like the As. I wouldn't count them out though. They've been very unlucky.

OTOH, the Mariners have no business even being in the conversation.

M's still puttin' the Flexen strain on the A's.

3-1 in the 6th, now.

The Ms have a -56 run differential. How they are 11 games over .500 is beyond me. But for now, thank you Ms.

It is odd, although half of that differential happened in two games (16-1 loss to the Padres and 15-1 loss to the Astros)...

It doesn't matter how the run differential occurs.

The Mariners are 29-16 in one run games and 9-25 in blowout games.

A team that is getting blown out that often is not a good team.
