Ya I like it. Kike starting. Meh. But likely the lineup. Martinez was solid game two though.

Zimmerman is a lefty sinkerballer with a weird arsenal. Averages 92 on sinker, change at 85, slider at 85, curve at 80. The FB and curve velocity diff is good, but he rarely throws a curve. For change and slider, it’s not a big enough velo difference to be effective, IMO. Sox should maul him. First day with truly good enough weather

Is Garrett ever going to return to his old form before 2014?

I think he can. A lot of his injury woes were of his own doing (delaying TJS). He can be a good pitcher, but adding him to Fenway with a horrible defensive alignment won’t help him

Defense is the least of this teams concerns right now. Scoring 2 runs in 18 innings against Baltimore is the biggest issue. Devers has looked god awful though. He needs to get his s*** together.

Defense is the least of this teams concerns right now. Scoring 2 runs in 18 innings against Baltimore is the biggest issue. Devers has looked god awful though. He needs to get his s*** together.

 

Whether Richards returns to being a good pitcher or not is immaterial of your offense

The low point for me in yesterday's game was Codero swinging and missing at Ball Four and Ball Five (against a guy throwing in the 70s). But this offseason the Sox opted to recruit players like Cordero because of potential or upside -- which means "not good yet". We knew that going in.

 

However, I disagree about the D. Nothing makes a bad team more unwatchable than lousy defense. Charlie Brown didn't become a famous loser because he struck out.
