s***** result but glad baseball is back none

The less. Get em tomorrow boys.

I echo this sentiment. Can't get too worked up about one game. We had a disappointing loss on Opening Day in 2018 and then look what happened

This year the Red Sox should win most games when they hold the opponent to three or fewer runs.

Today's was not one of those games.

Means was tough. Joined Yankees and Dodgers and Cubs and and and... at 0-1. Throw it out. 161 left. See ya tomorrow RSN (and Yankees fans!), hooligans all!

My always joyful persona might be back tomorrow. I just looked at the MLB blackout map and see I live in the Orioles/Nationals zone.

Interesting that MLB just moved the All-Star game out of Atlanta because of the recent Georgia legislation.

Defense can wax and wane game to game, but it’s way more consistent than hitting or pitching. Devers looks timid. Afraid to range, afraid to throw. Kike had one ball eat him up, so be it. Verdugo’s angles in CF have been off and it cost him on the Galvis “double”.

Well what do you expect? Cora thinks our guys can play multiple positions.

Maybe he should put everyone at their best position to start. Devers on 1B, Dalbec on 3B, Verdugo in RF and Kike in CF. (But Cora is a genius).

Good news today: eovaldi threw a great ball today. The bullpen looked really good as well!

Bad news today: why is Hernandez still on second base, the guy is a weaker defender than devers!

Dalbec is a better 1b than 3b.

EVERY team should win if they hold their opponents to three or fewer runs. But hey. RS got as many hits as Mookie did on opening day, so all's good.

Today's wrap-up

'Two hits, 8 strikeouts, multiple errors and near errors.

Ya it wasn’t pretty , but Evo looked good!

True, but he may be better than Devers at 3B, and maybe Devers can be a plus defender at 1B before too long.

Devers I thought it was pretty solid near the end of last year correct me if I am wrong? But he definitely did not look comfortable today and some of his throws were just horrible. Some routine plays he was struggling to make so I kind of see what you mean

He's shown flashes of being a plus range defender, and even had a long stretch back in 2018 of playing plus defense, but to me, this is his make or break year at 3B.

And he broke in game 1. He looked timid. That’s a bad thing for a veteran

Give me a break. It's the first game in the season.

Eovaldi looked good.

When the big acquisition in a reset year is Kike Hernandez, you are not serious about winning.

I see Richards as bigger, but he only has an option for year 2, but yeah, surprise-surprise, it's a re-build year.

Posted
1. Devers had the range to get that, he just backed off.

2. Bogey took too long to throw the ball.

3. The high throw did not allow Dalbec to full stretch forward to get the out, anyway.

Then, a Kike error and a Fenway double.

YUCK- a Doodle-Doo!

Bogie had to sit back, as he obviously thought Devers was playing that. Dever did not, which locked up Bogie. Bogie was majorly hamstrung by Devers late stop, which caused the slight bobble & off balance throw.

Brutal.

Kiki was worse.

Ughh

On the bright side, the O’s will be starting the Dark Knight Matt Harvey in game 2. He has been in darkness for around 5 years already. He is still managing to get paid well for being an occasional punching bag.

John Means Business was the story of this one.

We've known for a couple years now that he's a great young pitcher. I don't know why this is causing so many people here to insist that the sky is falling. That's the other downside to Opening Day: you usually have to go up against an ace.

If the bats come alive and we win handily today, the mood here will change in a heartbeat

100% on all points.
