You know things are bad when Cash's big play is Rougned Odor.

The thing about that deal that really exposed just how weak the Yankee depth is, is the fact that he has been placed in the following batting slots in 124 PAs, this year:

PAs by slot

38 in 6th slot

26 in 9th

16 in 4th

12 in 2nd, 5th and 7th

5 in 3rd

3 n 8th

That's 83 of 124 in the 2 through 6 slots!

And, no way should he have been needed for 124 PAs since the addition.

Sheer desperation.

Odor has been playing at replacement level or less for 4-5 years.

So bad that the Rangers couldn't even use him.

The Yankees had guys like Sonny Gray and Lance Lynn, gave up on them, now they're pitching well elsewhere.

Something just isn't working in the Yankees analytical and coaching departments.

Well, the argument I always heard, and we hear it here in Boston, too, is that some pitchers "can't handle the spotlight."

I never believed that, fully.

Sonny Gray said they changed his pitch mix and it messed him up.

Odor is still on the team because he costs $0 for the next two seasons. That matters more than performance to the front office.

There’s the issue. They were offered a nearly free LH power hitter who other than HRs sucks entirely and they took it. The Yanks had depth, the problem was, they had depth with the rocket ball. Every hitter has gone to s*** with this new ball, and it’s clearly mental

The Yanks have the rotation and pen to be dangerous in the playoffs. A simple investment in the offense (a CFer and a LFer) would make this team very dangerous. But with $4 mil left on the budget, they’re not getting either of those spots fixed. It seems like the FO is okay punting a season and that’s concerning to me. If that’s the case, id rather Stein sell to someone willing to make a major investment and not worry about the financials

I don't disagree, but I think you missed one key point: defense, and getting a SS, moving Torres to 2B and LeMahieu to 1B would have fixed 3 problems with one simple move.

I always had NY as the favorites to land Lindor since they let Didi walk (I even suspected that's why they didn't resign Didi). Turns out it was the wrong NY...

If the AL's heavy favorites don't win the pennant, is there any chance they won't sign one of Story/Seager/Correa/Baez next winter???

all of them are going to be FA? any chance we can covert one to 2B?

Many are better, defensively than Bogey, so why convert them?

That's true, so the question would be, can we move Xander to 2B?

Said that, call me crazy but I have a lot of faith in Arroyo. IMO he has the talent to be a super star. His defense is great. His bat looks solid as well.

I've liked Arroyo, too, and I'm not so sure it is warranted.

So many missed opportunities again. Easy opportunities with runners on third and less than two outs. Up in counts chasing. The fundamentals are so bad on this squad, there is only one recourse, can them all!

I keep seeing “complete offensive game” in the recap. No it wasn’t. We left a man on third with less than two outs three times! Our first 5 runs scored on a walk, wild pitch, sac fly, fielder’s choice error and fielder’s choice. We scored three runs on homers in the ninth against a rookie in his first game ever. It was nice to see the hits, but their ability to hit to situation is still dead in the water

Good news on the injury front.

Severino threw 2.1IP in his rehab stint. He threw 35 pitches. Will likely ramp up by 15 a game. He needs to be activated by July 6th.

Kluber can start throwing at more than just a catch pace. They moved him to the 60 day IL, but likely didn’t have to. They haven’t given an official update but it sounds like the initial concern was not validated with the 2nd through 4th opinions (yes, they got 4 opinions)

Britton got shellacked at AAA yesterday, but he is healthy and seems ready to go. I’d assume they’ll want to have him have a good outing before calling him back up, but he could be. Ack by the weekend

Voit is already running and hitting soft toss. He should take a rehab assignment soon and could be back in the Bronx by the end of June

All is well! The Twins have announced that they will face the Yankees for the next 99 games of the year.

Stupid Twins. Can't count on them for anything.

Not much to say about this game. Yanks controlled the whole game, but Chapman didn't have anything tonight. It happens.

He had quite a run.

I like how you take things.

If this were the Sox, I would break the TV or something lol
