I doubt flu. Norovirus is starting to roll again.

It’s hard to sweep a DHer and Manoah was great, but the offense in game 1 had zero punch. Stanton returns tonight, so that should help. We need someone at the bottom of the order to step up or we need to start shaking things up

Yanks didn't deserve to win with that pathetic offensive display. But the pitch right before the walkoff should have been strike three and ended the game. Oh well, it happens.

On Gameday that pitch showed as a borderliner, the kind that often gets called a strike, but not a no-doubter, not an egregiously bad call.

Is the Yankee offense ever going to come around? They sure are running low on excuses

No, they aren't.

Although their pitching is probably good enough to still get them to 90+ wins.

The next big deal for them is how Garcia does in place of Kluber.

Agreed. It should have been a strike but it's not like it was right down the middle. Those kind of calls happen multiple times a game, just happened that this one was magnified based on the situation. Not even mad about it. Putting up one run (I don't count that extra innings run) against the AAA Tigers is the real travesty.

The AAA Tigers do have a lot of talented young pitchers. They do have a notorious weakness on offense...

The thing that I’m holding the yanks accountable for is the lack of adjustments. If you can’t hit as a team, then you better generate runs. Get guys on base, move them over, drive them in from 3rd with less than 2 outs. This team seems to get base traffic and keep swinging for the fences. The dead ball has turned this back to 80s baseball and our pen/rotation is dominating. You don’t need to win games 10-9 anymore, but you better find a way to win 3-2

Wilson to the IL. Britton starts a rehab assignment. Deivi to the bump today

He's either hurt or finished. Guy only throws fastballs and is barely reaching 90mph.

Not today, no.

Not sure whether he will turn around but I wasn’t impressed from what I saw today regardless the score.

I have no idea what the Yankees see in Deivi Garcia. He is just not very good.

They just sent him to AAA.

That was quick.

If this guy were on the Sox, we’d have had high hopes for him, and he’d have been our 6/7 starter, too.

He pitched well, last year in double the sample size Houck had and with much better minor league numbers.

3.46 ERA and 1.167 WHIP

Houck:

4.14 and 1.421

Garcia has a 5.34 ERA in AAA, and 5.27 in MLB.

Smallish samples, but still, not very impressive.

Garcia just turned 22 and has only thrown 108 innings between AA/AAA in his career. It would've been a shock if he didn't have some struggles.

You would expect to see some flashes of brilliance, though, at least, if he is indeed the high ceiling guy he's been touted as by some.

His overall numbers weren't good last year so you'd have to go back another year to see. But in 2019 as a 19/20 year old between High A/AA he had a 3.5 ERA with 120Ks over 70 innings.

He'll never have a top fastball but his secondary pitches are very good, especially his curveball. Also has a plus slider and change-up. That's led to a 12.7 K/9 rate across all levels of the minors. His big issue right now, along with pretty much every young pitcher, is command.
