Nice to see German put together back to back quality starts. Granted, they were against the punchless Guardians and the O's. His next start is against Houston so we'll see how he performs against a real lineup.

But you can see the rotation starting to take form and pitch deeper into games. Hopefully it lasts.

Judge missing in action for the second day in a row

He's hurt. "Lower body issue" is all Boone will disclose.

Hip issue maybe?

"ALL RISE!"

Judge: "I can't. Owie."

Can never believe a word the Yankees say about injuries. They initially said they were sitting Judge yesterday just as a routine off day, then thye said he was a little sore but nothing to worry about. And now he's out again.

Judge is awesome (when he plays) but I have a hard time seeing us re-signing him to the large contract that he'll probably demand.

Bell's concerns about Judge's healthiness are coming alive.

Geez this guy is made of crystal glass. It's a shame given his talent.

s***** game with s***** luck. Go ahead run doesn't score in the 9th because the ball bounces over the wall, then lose in extras.

Biggest take away for me is how horrible Hicks looks this season. He isn't hitting at all or making good contact, fielding is sloppy/making bad reads/slow for a CF, and his arm is a shell of what it used to be. That third O's run doesn't score against 90% of CFers. His throw home to end the game was weak and offline despite being able to settle under the ball. It's not like we have any better option for CF but at some point he has to produce, otherwise I'd just call up Florial. I'm sure he could hit .140 too, but at least play good defense.

More brain-dead managing by Boone (not walking Mullins) leads to a loss.

They got away with not bunting in the 9th, but I was shocked they didn't do that either

Rays lost as well. Good opportunity to increase the lead in the division. Edited by iortiz

Base runners last 4 games. 15-13-15-20. Keep the traffic on the bases and we will keep winning. Also, team ERA last 4 games is 0.97

Orioles and Tigers

And the Yanks are only 4-3 against the Orioles. I think Jax said at the start of the season that's a team you're supposed to stomp into the dust every time out.

Right. He also said that you can't gauge how good your pitching is against them because they are a AA lineup.

We'll see what the Yankees can really do next week when Houston comes to town. They should sweep Detroit, but most people will this season. That team is BAD

I still expect the Yankees to end up winning the division. I just don't think they're as dominant as the preseason predictions made them out to be. They will not coast through the season.

Don’t care how bad the teams we are playing are. The bats were so bad that Matt Harvey one hit us. For the whole month of April, the Yanks had slider speed bats. Over the last 4 games, they look to have finally come around and are hitting the ball hard. The whole team has started to rise offensively except for DJ surprisingly enough. The pitching is way better than expected. Cole is the April front runner for AL CY. Kluber had a great last start and finally showed the command that won him two CY’s. German has had two excellent starts in a row. Montgomery has been solid. Taillon is the only started scuffling right now. The pen has been lights out. But the O was so bad that it’s a miracle we’re only 4 back in the L column. With them starting to return to prominence, we should have a pretty strong rest of the way

I don't disagree, but I'll add that most teams' pitching looks better than expected due to offense being way down across the board.

Maybe every team with a struggling O is the new norm.

Chapman has 20 K's in 8 innings.

And his FIP is, get this: -0.80. Yes, that's a minus sign.

So we should actually be scoring runs while he is on the mound. The offense lets us down again.

Yanks last two post season runs ended because of a Chapman slider. His slider is good, but he cannot reliably keep it down. So he added a splitter which is absolute death on hitters.

I really like Taillon’s stuff. I know he’s scuffled a bit and his velo hasn’t come back to what it was, but he’s 94 on the black with a nasty slider. He fades which has hurt him at this point, but he should build as the season goes along.
