The Yankees are only 1/2 game behind the Red Sox by Pythagorean W-L records.

I wonder if old Pythagaras could have hit Chapman's splitter?

Yanks are 8th in the AL in OPS, 12th in runs, 5th in OBP and 10th in SLG but lead the league in HRs. Talk about strange

Yanks with the lowest ERA in the AL by a lot (3.01 vs 3.42 second), K's by a lot (301 to 277) and WHIP by a lot (1.05 to 1.15).

Very, very weird year for sure. The Yankee pen has been entirely lights out. They're second in ERA by 0.09 to Seattle, first in K's, 3rd lowest in walks, lowest in WHIP (0.95) and BAA (.180). And they are doing all this with arguably our best reliever on the mend in Britton.

For the rotation, the much maligned Yankee rotation is 2nd in the AL in ERA at 3.50, 1st in K's, 4th in WHIP. Kluber has been unhittable two games running. Taillon finally found his stuff and dominated, albeit against the worst hitting team in the AL. German has gone 12 innings in a row without allowing a run. Montgomery has been steady Eddy with a 4.39ERA through his first 5 starts as well. Then there's Cole who is the clear favorite right now for AL CY

The offense has been the issue. Stanton and Judge have roared back from slow starts. Higashioka is the team's best hitter and now the starting catcher. Urshela has been solid if not unspectacular. Beyond that, everyone else has sucked. Lemahieu and Torres have seen a startling drop in power. Frazier finally started hitting the ball with authority the last few games, so naturally he sat yesterday. Hicks, Gardner and Sanchez have been utterly invisible. The Yanks gets a big jolt back in their lineup in 8 days with the return of Voit, the defending AL HR champion. But the Yanks need to be looking at the OF market as the season starts to heat up. If Hicks continues to be a hole in the lineup, Gardner continues to lose his fight vs Father Time and Frazier returns to looking lost, we might be in the market for not one, but two OFers at the deadline.

There are no must watch series in early May outside of Yankees Sox.

Absolutely untrue. Dodgers-Padres was definitely one, and Astros-Yankees this week is one. I don't understand you sometimes. One minute you're praising the Yankees to the moon and back, and the next you're downplaying everything about them.

I am an enigma wrapped in a puzzle, lol. Reason why I say that is the Yanks are playing almost at half offensive capability against a team fully capable of dropping a 10 spot at any moment. When they play again later in the season, I will agree as I'd assume the Yanks bats will no longer be made of foam

No matter your perspective, the Astros-Yankees series this week is MUST watch TV

Meh. If they were playing tonight, I'd watch.

I am interested to see how much crap the Yankees fans give the Astros.

I know fans shouldn't throw things onto the field for player safety, but I'd love to see a bunch of garbage cans thrown onto the field away from the players.

Yankees could have a Nerf Garbage Can giveaway day.

Kluber was named pitcher of the week to nobody’s surprise. Last 2 starts, only 3BB in 14.2IP. First 4 games, 11BB in 15IP. Needless to say, he’s found his location which is bad news for AFC foes

When your team is so bad that you're already into football season.

Rumor has it that the Yankees are one of Aaron Rodgers' top three trade destinations

The reverse Drew Henson.

Been a long time since I've heard that kind of energy at any sporting event. Should be a fun, tense, and stressful game.

Good start so far. Up 1, with 2 men on and nobody out.

Odor looks like he blew out his knee

Ugly play from start to finish. Lucky nobody stepped on the bat and broke an ankle

My early takeaway from tonight was that German managed to have a great peripherals line while looking bad. His stuff was all over the place, but 5 baserunners in 5 innings with 6K's is pretty good, but the 2HR isnt. Yanks put runners on and it was an infield hit that broke it all open. 4 more outs and we can put this one in the books. No way I thought we win this one with Greinke facing German, but Greinke was really off.

Not sure how I feel about Peralta. Stuff is insane, but he starts from a moving base and pulls the ball far too often into the RH batters box. He gave up 3 liners in his 4 batters and thankfully, two were hit right at the batters

German did enough to keep the game manageable. I'd take 3 runs over 5 innings from my #5 starter against the Astros lineup everyday. The bullpen was stellar yet again and kept the Astros at 3 runs. With Britton and O'Day out the depth of the bullpen has really shined this first month.

Chapman: 10.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.50 WHIP, 24 K

Green: 17.2 IP, 1.02 ERA, 0.62 WHIP, 18 K

Loaisiga: 17.1 IP, 1.04 ERA, 0.81 WHIP, 17 K

Luetge: 16.2 IP, 3.78 ERA, 1.08 WHIP, 17 K

Cessa: 12.2 IP, 1.42 ERA, 1.03 WHIP, 17 K

King: 11.0 IP, 0.00 ERA, 0.73 WHIP, 9 K

O'Day (injured): 9.0 IP, 3.00 ERA, 1.11 WHIP, 9 K

That just leaves Wilson who has looked shaky since coming off the IL (6.2 IP, 5.40 ERA, 1.65 WHIP, 6 K) and Nick Nelson who was demoted because he's addicted to throwing his pitches middle-middle (8.1 IP, 9.72 ERA, 1.92 WHIP, 15 K).

Monty came up big against a really bad matchup for him with all those RH bats. Pen was lights out. Stanton is on fire. Hicks with a couple hits. Won 5 straight heading into a Cole start. Tomorrow should be fun
