Umm love ya man but Benny cant his ass with both hands lately .Yeah I’m taking Nomar over Benny .Hey Moon I get Benny May be a better fielding maybe but come on man can Benny hit 505 foot Moon shots ? Nomar is still 26.

While technically Mazara’s .589 OPS is an upgrade over Benintendi’s .442 from last year, it’s not something worth getting excited about...

Don’t get mad at next suggestion.....Kris Bryant maybe play 1b and platoon with Hunter and occasional Devers ? I know it may take a haul .Love this player at Fenway what say you guys ? .

How are we not making a play at either Tehran or Walker.... we need arms and they seem to be the best still available!

Odorizzi & Paxton are better.

Rosenthal would be a better get at closer than one of those two.

Shouldn't we try to fill gaping holes, first?

Has the Red Sox rotation improved that much from 2020 when the Sox starters finished dead last in fWAR?

Not disagreeing, but obviously those Sox would be better to watch surrounded by other top talent. Maybe Bloom will acquire some a year from now.

For me, a longterm contract for a star player doesn't have to be justified by winning a World Series. That's the ultimate goal, but the journey is often more valuable than the destination. The Red Sox almost won in '86 with Dave Henderson in center, and they finished first a few times with Ellis Burks out there. But I had more fun watching Fred Lynn in the '70s.

The journey is what makes the season. Those teams that almost won and in some cases maybe should have won provided us with some of the most entertaining seasons that I have seen in my lifetime. I agree with you.

Does that include some Sale and how much?

I don’t see the Sox taking a chance on Bryant, who 1) makes $18mill 2) has ONE YEAR until free agency 3) is repped by Scott Boras 4) isn’t signing an extension because this is a player/agent combination that tried to sue the Cubs over service time manipulation and 5) cannot pitch...

Added ERod, Richards, Sale (partial), Pivetta. Subtracted Godley, Weber, Mazza, Brewer (yes he was 6th on the Sox in starts last year), Hart, etc...

I am.

So many unanswered questions. I can't wait and hope many answers are good ones.

We are entering the season with a lot of unknowns, which makes it difficult to know exactly how good this team will be.

I have confidence in Cora to get the most out of his players. I am extremely confident that JD will bounce back and fairly confident that Beni will as well. I really like our offense.

IMO, our pitching will be much improved over last year. That might not be saying a lot, but it's not nothing either.

Our defense remains suspect. I'm hoping Cora's influence helps there, especially with someone like Devers.

I'm going with the computer projection models and saying 87 wins.

How many starts will the Red Sox get from Eduardo Rodriguez, Garrett Richards, Chris Sale, Nick Pivetta, Nathan Eovaldi and Martin Perez in a 162-game season (and who will start the balance)?

The Sox have kept Ryan Weber, Matt Hall, Chris Mazza and Kyle Hart around for a reason.

OK, but why are you including Perez but leaving out Eovaldi?

With the Mets’ signing of Albert Almora, are they still contenders for Bradley? If not, who are his remaining suitors?

So? Your responses are no longer making sense and one gets the impression you’re just trying to aggravate people.

Last year, Ryan Weber started the third game of the season. His status has changed. This was painfully clear in the response.

It’s like someone asking “are the Mariners ok in CF?” And you’re response “yes, they have the reigning rookie of the year in Kyle Lewis.” And then the person comes back with “but they kept Braden Bishop for a reason”...

Plus, despite "oversighting Perez" the people he chose to list as "being around for a reason" are not even on the top of the starter depth list. He "forgot" Houck, Andriese & Whitlock, too.

Here's my view of our SP'er depth chart:

Sale (60 day IL?)

ERod

Eovaldi

Richards

Perez

Pivetta

Houck

Andriese

Whitlock

Mata

Seabold

Mazza

Gossett

Hart

Weber

Hall/Springs

There are certainly a lot of " maybes " and " what ifs " associated with this year's edition of the Bosox , and their chances for success. But there is still quite a bit of talent on the team and it could still be a good one . Not 2018 caliber good , but good enough to contend all year and keep us interested. Let's get it on.

You’re crazy if you think Paxton is better than either of them! Paxton coming off shoulder issues and a dying velocity... at least Walker and Tehran are innings eaters!

Teheran’s velocity is down “senior on a highway” levels

Not sure why Bloom is looking to import a Japanese pitcher. I guess this Sawamura is a potential closer/reliever, as he has closed in Japan. His B-R page is incomplete... Edited by notin
