He's in Anaheim. Nobody out there loves the Angels. He's underloved and underrated!

Well then he's overrated by every city in the US except Anaheim. All I hear is that he's the best player ever. If he's that good, they should be a perennial playoff team. Not necessarily a perennial contender, but at least always in the hunt for the Wild Card. You can ride one really good player to a record of .500 or marginally better.

Do you have a pool of piranhas? I think you might need it here...

If you grab a pool of water from the Connecticut River, it's like a mystery bag. You don't know what you're gonna get, but it should suffice for these purposes

I think you missed his joke

About 30 years ago, Chamberlain wrote a book in which he claimed he slept with 20,000 women, hence "more love than he deserved." Ir'a ridiculous statement, as it meant he slept with one woman a day for nearly 55 years. He was about 54 or so at the time he made the claim. Ignoring the 0 he had to have had for the first few years of his life, I also think he took a few days off to squeeze in some basketball...

I was saying this just the other day to Ernie Banks...

Per BTV, that trade would be Eovaldi for Pollock and Robinson Ortiz. a 19yo who last posted a 4.59 ERA in A ball....

It also accepted Eovaldi & Decker for Pollock, Kolarek and Joe Kelly (The lux tax money is almost equal.)

The MLB is not the NBA for sure.

Not when your pitching is terrible every year.

Why wouldn't they?

If COVID gives ERod gang green and his arm falls off. Otherwise, he's getting tendered.

Posted
He didn't allow any runs all year.

Neither did Kevin Plawecki, and he threw more innings. So why does Plawecki only get $1.6mill and ERod gets $8.3 mill?

What if it's only the right arm that falls off?

Plawecki is just a flash in the pan. He doesn't have the history ERod does.

Any limb loss would get him nontendered. He'd also get nontendered if he lost a finger on his left hand, lost either eye, lost either foot or was found in the backseat with Henry's wife. He could get his nose lopped off by an axe like Tyrion Lannister and still get a contract though.

COVID is known to give heart issues, in some cases. That's about as serious as anything can get. If it looks like there may be an issue, and since ERod just has one year left of control, I'd say tendering him or not is something in consideration by Sox brass.

If he gets a green light on his health, it's a no brainer.

Thanks. I was wondering when these would come out, so maybe....

$8.3M ERod (assuming green light on health)

$4.4M Devers

$4.2M Barnes

$1.6M Plawecki

$1.3M Brasier

$1.2M Weber

That's $21M for 6 arb keepers.

Bye-bye Peraza & Brice

Ok so NOW you bring in the whole "history as a pitcher" thing...

Yes, his contract tender is 100% dependent on his health...

Well, what did he do to deserve a raise?

In arbitration, some players get raises even though they played worse than the year before.

Eduardo Rodriguez "had more than two months of total inactivity leading up to his reexamination in Boston in late September. As of that time, the team anticipated that in a best-case scenario, it wouldn’t be until at least mid-October that he could start engaging in light exercise on a treadmill."

The Red Sox might need a more encouraging prognosis before tendering Rodriguez a contract less than seven weeks from now on December 2.

Or not.

Yes. 100%.

It's a no-brainer, if he's healthy, even at $14-17M/yr.

$8-9M is a bargain, in terms of open market value.

If his heart or other issues are severe enough to cast major doubt, we may walk away.

They key word in your argument is "played"...

Exactly, and at the risk of sounding political, getting over COVID is often not like just getting over the flu.
