JBJ with good baserunning. Bring him back at 2/12.

He will want more than that and he isn't worth it. These are garbage time games. Can't put any stock in what anybody is doing now that it doesn't matter.

You know, if this was not a short season I wonder sometimes if we would make a push for the playoffs. This team over their last few games has really been playing well. We have had some decent pitching and we have won quite a few games lately. This team has me excited for next year, if we get some decent pitching we will be a force again

They are playing the Orioles! When they beat up on the good teams then we will talk.

Ummmmm ok. We Smoked the yankees 10-2, won our series against Miami who is a playoff team. Tied our series against Tampa who has one of the best records in the league. What more do you want?? Jesus Christ. We started the season terrible because of bad pitching, but we are still a top ten offensive team and have finished the season very strong. If that doesn’t give you some positives to look forward to, you need to cheer for another team.

Do we lead the league in outfield assists? Seems like we have one or two every series.

With 6 outfield assists, the Sox are tied for 5th in MLB with the Angels, Yankees and Blue Jays, trailing the Marlins, Orioles, Dodgers and Padres...

I think you clicked the wrong column in Baseball Reference. The Sox have 16 outfield assists, which does lead the majors (5 more than any other team).

Verdugo has 7 by himself.

(In looking at it, you probably clicked the errors column, as the Sox do have 6 outfield errors).

@alexspeier

Assuming 2021 draft order is determined by reverse order of 2020 standings, the Red Sox still sit in position for the third pick but could fall as far as eighth.

Too bad we didn't swap him for Odor!

I liked him when he was punching Bautista and hitting bombs. That was ages ago in baseball years.

THe big problem with that deal is having to replace Eovaldi with the savings. It's a deal that made more sense prior to 2020, when the savings at least made it easier to get under the tax limits.

The sox are at a point where they not only need to keep Eovaldi, they probably cannot even realistically consider switching him to the bullpen. At least not if they hope to compete in 2021, which, per Tom Werner, they do.

That said, now watch something like that deal happen this off-season. After all, this might be a "sell high" opportunity on a pitcher whose problem has never really been the talent...

Honestly, I bet you could get more for Eovaldi than Odor. It would almost make more sense to eat a part of his salary and trade for prospects.

Odor is basically Chavis. He hits home runs. He strikes out a lot. He plays below average defense at 2B.

His most redeeming quality is that he is still only 26, so he is a little over a year older than Dalbec and Chavis...

That might only mean he's out of the game at an early age.

With Odor, it can go in either direction or simply maintain the status quo as a high K/high power guy who cannot field. He probably moves to the outfield at some point in the future...

His numbers have certainly gone in a bad direction this year - 40 K's and 6 BB's.

If Huock keeps this up. Him, Eovaldi, E Rod and Sale is a nice rotation next year, would hate to trade any pitchers away.

We are currently 4th in batting stats. Offense hasn’t been and never will be our problem. Offensively we are a good team. Getting another starting pitcher and adding a couple relievers is what we need.

Houck will be in AAA next year. The Sox have basically said so and he really needs a 3rd pitch to be an effective starter long term. He looks promising but 11 innings don’t me a thing.

He’s also only pitched 83 innings at AA and 25 at AAA. This is a very raw kid.

My guess is he comes into ST'ing with a chance to make the big club- maybe as a long RP'er/spot starter.

Either way, I doubt he gets more than 150 IP total.

No, they haven't. His third pitch is the splitter he's been throwing this year.

Fair enough, but he has looked fantastic. It’s a promising sign of what we have for the future.

So next year:

Sale

E Rod

Perez

Eovaldi

Guess we trade or go for a 5th guy?

Sale will not be ready. ERod may not be ready. They'll be getting a few other guys just in case.

Maybe they just go with Pivetta or Houck? Maybe they go with both? Hard to really say because we don't have a long history with Bloom here and don't have an idea on what Henry wants next year to look like.

I think both are options. but a starter or two will be added in some way. Just probably not Bauer...
