Perez vs Eflin

McCutchen and Gregorious both beat up on Perez.

Gregorius is 3 for 9 lifetime with 2 HRs vs Perez. So.. yeah, probably.

McCutchen is 5 for 10 lifetime. Again, yeah...

Would love to give Girardi nightmares a couple more times. I will never forget his hissy fit after Dempster threw at A-Rod

That's why I posted it. I wasn't prognosticating for tonight's game. Should have said "both have beaten up" (past perfect tense) to avoid confusion rather than using the simple past tense.

@PeteAbe

With Arroyo at 2B and Chavis in LF, looks like Sox are backing off Peraza.

Understandably so (.231/.282/.352) given his poor season.

Red Sox have called up catcher Deivy Grullón as the 29th man for today's doubleheader. He was recently claimed off waivers from the Phillies.

I actually assumed the word "beat' was in present tense and it was more of a prediction. It might as well be...

Deivy will be starting game 2 since Plawecki is banged up.

Bloom: “With Grullon, he’s an interesting player,” Bloom said. “He’s young, he has a pretty potent bat, especially for that position. He has good defensive tools. He still has some work to do defensively. There’s definitely some things he’s working on cleaning up. We were able to take advantage of the ability to snag him and we get a chance to work with him. He’s going to be active today just because, us having a doubleheader, needing two catchers to play today and Plawecki is still a bit sore from the other day. We get a chance to give Deivy a look and we should see him in the nightcap.”

Arroyo was called up to replace Beni. He's the former 1st rounder that has played in a bunch of organizations.

“We would like to give him a good look... we’ll just kind of see how it goes with the playing time for everybody,” Roenicke said. “But it is an opportunity to see some new guys and give them a chance. With where we’re at right now, I’m kind of looking forward to it.”

Assclown Barnes gives up the 2 out, 2 strike single to allow the tying and winning runs to score. He sucks in ways not possible to categorize. Never walk the leadoff man with a one run lead.

Closing ain't easy.

And because of this weird year -- we now know for sure -- with Barnes it has nothing to do with the 9th inning... because today was the 7th; it's all about the last inning... whenever that is... There are just certain guys that can't handle it -- not their arms, but their noggins.

There's a reason someone traded for Workman well before the deadline... and that no contender traded for Barnes.

Look on the bright side. The Yankees spent a fortune on their pen and aren't getting much more production than the Sox are getting from their dumpster dives.
