They do, but sometimes it seems like they just put in a half assed effort because normally the pitching gives us no chance. We definitely are terrible defensively, but give us some average to decent pitching and I think this team would be a contender

No one is going to 'give' the SOX decent to average pitching. And based on the players that the SOX would be willing to trade, I'm not even sure that would bring decent pitching to this team. Look who the SOX got for Moreland; PTBNL, I can't even pronounce his name.
