what makes you think that?

why is everyone in a rush to give our players away for the first offer?

Just a hunch. Many dominoes have already fallen, so I think teams are at their plan B's and C's. I think Price, Eovaldi, JBJ and maybe others are slotted at plan B, C and D levels for other teams, or as harmony likes to say, "or not."

(When did I ever say, "first offer?")

I'm not implying a rush. I think he's been on the phones for weeks.

I don't want him to take a quick deal just for the sake of doing something, but if he waits too long, teams may fill their needs elsewhere leaving us holding the bag.

Here's what MLBTR has as the best remaining FAs (with their ranking)

5. Donaldson

8. Castellanos

9. Ryu

11. Ozuna

14. Keuchel

21. Teheran

22. W Harris

25. Dickerson

28. Hudson

33. Chirinos

(Players in red are players I'd like to get, assuming we free up enough money to be able to fit them into our budget.)

To be fair, there is a difference between predicting a move is imminent and wishing Bloom would just do anything...

If the Sox do need an outfielder on a budget, Corey Dickerson always seems to be the forgotten man when this time of year comes, yet he has always been surprisingly productive. How many other players have been non-tendered in a season after they played in the All Star game?

Offer Dickerson two years (at any money) and you might overwhelm him...

True, but I'd see him as a bridge signing more than a rebuild one.

Have you ever seen Ozuna play outfield? He makes J.D. look like a gold glover. He also will want 4-5 years at 17-20M a year. No thanks.

I don’t think you’re going to see a rebuild. If the Sox wanted to rebuild, they would be trading Sale and Bogaerts. Those two might actually bring something back. Instead we’re seeing players on the block like Price and Bradley where the case seems to be more about paring down salary...

I thought you liked Beni in CF.

Maybe "rebuild" is a poor choice of words. My thought is, Bloom should be making moves that look beyond 2020.

I like Dickerson, too -- he's a solid hitter and defender. Though I have to wonder why Bloom's Rays traded him after an All-Star season at age 28... I doubt it was just to sell high and maximize assets, since they cut the guy they swapped him for a month later. That was Daniel Hudson, who just closed the World Series, and is also available. Don't we need a closer, too?

They traded him because they DFAd him due to his projected arbitration salary...

So the Yankees can either trade him or put him on waivers?

Yes. And if he clears they can demote him. I don’t know if he can refuse assignment, but if he can and does, he would be a free agent...

The Yankees have designated for assignment 25-year-old righthander Chance Adams, who could play a cost-effective role with the Red Sox.

Or not.

I loved Chance Adams as a prospect. He had elbow surgery to remove some bone chips prior to 2018 and never regained his fastball. Chance Adams at 97mph is a far more appealing player than Chance Adams at 91mph

He doesn't have enough service time to refuse an assignment. All a team would need to do is offer him a 40 man spot and he is claimed

We have plenty of those.
