I'm just here waiting for A700 to shoot on Rye, White Plains or Mamaroneck.
LOL!! I know people that live in those places, but I haven't worked there or lived there. They are very nice places. Good family living for people with hefty incomes.

I spent too much time in LIC albeit not for the last 10 yrs. It was a desolate undesirable place for 50-60 years. It has changed, but as between Astoria and LIC, you can go out after dark in Astoria, not in LIC. Seriously, if you want a feel for that neighborhood, she should take a ride around at night. It has a much different character at night.

LIC? What Street? How often do you go there? I worked there for 10 years.

No no no, I was in Mamaroneck. Go there on an as needed basis.

You are probably already wearing a winter coat when it is sunny and 65 degrees. LOL!

Shorts everyday except for when it’s in the 50’s.

Jogged in my shorts this morning in 37 degree temperatures. Beautiful sunrise in the forest.

No.

I generally jog in leggings when the temperature dips below 40 degrees but I forgot to check the temperature before I dressed this morning. My daughter, who is home from college in San Diego, wore leggings on our run.:)

I've been slow jogging for a few months with my dogs in the early morning- sometimes before or as the sun is coming up.

I wear shorts, unless it's under 40 or so but throw on a hoodie. My legs rarely feel cold.

If I wear sweat pants, I sweat like a pig, no matter how cold it is. I hate letting the hood down in the cold, once I've started sweating.

. Astoria which is next to LIC should be considered. It offers more for residential living-- lot's of restaurants etc.

i was just about to post this to Moon.

1 million percent you should be looking at Astoria.

I saw a Playland sign. What is it?

small amusement park.

they have a rollercoaster called the dragon coaster that is infamous as the dragon teeth used to be made of wood and a dude got his head lopped off by them when he stood up during the ride.

also, the NYR used to practice at their rink. i dont think they still do tho....

You are overlooking the convenience of the bus stop to Rikers Island and that it is a drop-off spot for released Rikers Island inmates. They are spotted easily -- the people walking around with their personal effects in shrink wrap. I haven't worked there for 10 years, but I'd say that LIC is still more aptly described as desolate rather than quiet. If you can live in a luxury apartment down by the water, it is just fine -- that is where grocery stores are etc., but not so great for everyday people. Good luck looking for CVS or Walgreens. They are very scarce -- maybe one Walgreens. And there may be a CVS down by the high rent waterfront luxury apartments, but I couldn't swear to it. If you have some substantial means, it is nice living down by the water. Otherwise, the options aren't great.

I don't recognise that description of LIC at all to be honest. Maybe before, and God knows I met enough people who told me how s***** it used to be, but not now. We lived there for just shy of 18 months and never once felt unsafe. Yup, there's a CVS down on 50th by the water. Down by the water is definitely an area that's better if you've got more cash to spend - there's a new tower block shooting up every time I go back there.

I don't see it as unsafe or desolate, however. It's really changing and becoming gentrified. But no argument that Astoria has much more going on.

As I said, it has been 10 years since I worked there, but I still know people who work in LIC. I realize that there has been a lot of development since then. I don't think they have changed the drop-off spot for Rikers Island releases that had been on Queens Blvd. The official Board of Corrections bus did the drop off at 5 am, but if for some reason they missed that bus, they took a city bus that let them off in the same spot during working hours. While I was working there, we got a number of memos about criminal activity around our building -- a shooting that killed a nurse at the Dunkin Donuts in the early morning hours, another shootout that resulted in a bullet going through the window of our employee gym, a cop stabbed in the eye at the elevated train station on a weekend. To allay our fears, the employer told us that NYPD had informed them that most of the criminality occurred from 11 pm to 5 am and that it was safe during normal business hours. We had an applicant who interviewed with us who left a jacket behind and called to ask if we could just mail it to her, because she didn't want to come back to LIC. I made a job offer to an attorney who accepted, and a couple of days later her employment agent called to inform me that she was rejecting the offer because of the neighborhood. We couldn't attract talent at that location and had to move back to Manhattan.

Has there been much news about Bradley?

I haven't heard any rumors, but I'm thinking Bloom must be pretty confident he can trade him, or else he wouldn't have offered him arb.

There really are not too many CF'ers on the market this winter- good ones, anyways.

But is there any demand?

I'm thinking Bloom put out some feelers before offering arb, but nothing is certain.

I could be wrong. We could be looking at trading Price and Betts and will wait until July to decide on JBJ.

To me, the smart plan os to offload Price and Bradley and then wait on Betts. But we shall see...

I think so, too.

It pains me to even think about trading away Betts- perhaps the best all around player the organization has ever had.

If we do end up trading him, I hope we try hard to re-sign him next winter.

I'm thinking a deal will be happening real soon.

what makes you think that?

why is everyone in a rush to give our players away for the first offer?

You're right that being in a big rush could be detrimental.

On the other hand, if we wait until close to spring training to make that first big move, it makes it harder to map out the rest of the moves that need to be made. Meanwhile the available players are flying off the shelves.
