So the Sox called up Chris Owings today, a clear sign Dombrowski means business. This move should finally pacify the bloodthirsty mob that has been clamoring for the Sox to acquire a 27yo utility player with a .415 OPS.

 

Dombrowski does mean business. He is going to show that he can get the Sox to the postseason even if he has to use the absolute worst player in MLB this year to do it...

Well, he is taking the place of the worst pitcher in MLB (Velazquez), so there's that.

 

Pearce moved to the 60 day IL to make room for this stud!

And how does Warren go to San Diego and become one of the worst pitchers?

Cracked a HR other day off Kluber, has some Pop.

Going out on a limb here, but as Kluber is on a rehab assignment, he really didn’t care who was hitting what off him, as long as it didn’t hurt...

Naturally Owings comes up with the bases loaded and 2 outs in the second inning of his first game and K's on 3 pitches.

 

It's that kinda season.

Because DD is waving the white flag on 2019 and seeing what his few in-season moves are worth, if anything?

If you are waiting the white flag, it would make way more sense to let Hernandez get ABs, not a bum who was released by one of worst teams in MLB

Well at least Betts got his rest (Not). It was do or die and Cora goes back to his rest players concept. Cora is partly to blame for this.

Because of last year both DD and Cora get one more year to make good. No playoffs next year and they are both gone.

I'm thinking since Marco was sent down, he has to stay some amount of days.

 

If he could have been called up, it was an idiotic choice.

 

I'm thinking DD needs to go.

You are likely correct with the time thing. Unless there’s an injury, he has to stay down for 10 days. He was sent down on the 3rd, so he isn’t eligible to come back up until the 13th.

Now I read that Owings had to scramble to get to Boston and was only working on 3 hours sleep. Not to mention his shock at finding out he was hitting leadoff. Beautiful!

This is what I’ve been saying. Why was Marco ever sent down? He was playing well and he brings energy, he’s always hustling and making plays.

He was a victim of roster shuffling and the fact they wanted to give Travis's bat a shot.

Marco is back tonight so I think he was locked down until the 13th, which is Tuesday. If he was held down and todays new is incorrect, then I would have brought up Chatham instead of Owings and batted him way down in the order. If Cora decided on this move, it was a bad mistake to make when your fighting for a WC slot, unless they no longer are or were. With the bases loaded, I would have stuck Mookie in for Owings and said to hell with the rest idea. Cora has some blind spots.
