Seven HR with a .265 BA and the middle of July came and went. The guy is pathetic.

The "what about last year" crowd can take a hike with this clown. He needs to go.. and

if Mookie doesn't want to play for the Red Sox.. doesn't even want to talk about a new contract

Well... go get that 300 mil contract somewhere else bro, cuz you're playing like a shell of yourself

this season.

He's a pretty good shell.

I believe scoring a run in 56 straight games is tougher than getting a hit in 56 straight games. The getting a hit has already been done.

I think I posted this a while back, but in '41 during the same period of time that Joe D. had his 56 game streak, Williams hit for a higher BA.

Now that Betts has got his groove on, I doubt there's a MLB team that has a better 1-2-3 in their batting order. Captain Obvious agrees.

You are correct on those three, especially if Mookie will hit .300+ the rest of the way. If JDM gets fixed, it would be incredible. One thing on JD that came from the recent Fox broadcast was that JD's hitting guru now works for the Dodgers and his absence may be affecting up Martinez's adjustments to his swing. I didn't get the guys name and JD lost his number too.

The Kid was good in the 40's and 50's but hasn't done crap since .

IIRC, they said that said guru was with the Diamondbacks last year but that his contract there allowed him to talk with JD. They also indicated that his Dodger contract does not allow that.

That's the trouble with 'gurus'. They could die, be incarcerated, or even be in witness protection.

I wanted to see mookie with the bases loaded but noooo sandy's got to swing at bouncing balls in the dirt.

If it wasn't for batters like Sandy, baseball games would last 4 or 5 hours on a regular basis.

Just got caught up live... WOW!

Good on Sale!

By my count, out of his first 15 outs, 12 were Ks, 2 were ground balls and 1 was a line out. Even one of his 2 hits allowed was a grounder. 3 ground outs in the 6th inning.

6 IP

12 Ks

5 GB outs

1 Line Out

Let's all hope we've finally gotten back the real...

Chris Freakin' Sale!

I'm presently employing a .250 BA as the defining line on whether a player when he comes to bat should be referred to as a batter or hitter. Under .250 he's a batter; over .250 he's a hitter. I think I'm being very generous using .250.

You haven't covered a guy who is 1 for 4 every day at exactly .250

Followed the game, sort of. No pictures. Pretty amazing by Sale and the bullpen, and the hitting was good too.

As I said earlier on the thread, just maybe Leon does bring value to the pitching. Certainly with Sale.

Interesting that Vazquez at DH moved JDM to RF, Mookie to CF and JBJ to the bench. He didn't look so good last night.

Good point. I will consider him a bitter or a hatter. Seriously, I would call him a hitter. I'm not hard to get along with.

Yanks and Ray play a double header. We are going to gain on one or both of them, today!

Time to start a long winning streak, or a 9 out of 10 type run.

IDK where JD is right now, but he looks awful.

Well is at what is probably the bottom for him. When a hitter starts focusing too much on what he can't hit, he can no longer even hit what is actually can hit and that is where JD is right now.

JD hits weak cheese. He lives off of it...feasts off of it and it just so happens that there are enough weak cheese putzes throwing in MLB these days that if you can hit weak cheese, not only can you make a living, you can be a "star". But he is maybe even a bit overexercised about not being able to hit breaking stuff. Its not like these putzes throwing all this breaking stuff are not also tossing weak cheese up there for him to hit. He will either figure it out or he won't. But I don't see him radically changing his swing and his posture in the batter's box to be Rafi's who dives across the batters box to cover the entire plate or X's who lunges across the plate to do it or Bellinger's who literally just camps with his elbow covering the inner 3rd of the plate. They get away with it because pitchers no longer pitch inside effectively. But I think JD's swing has been grooved over time and with a process that he is not going to abandon so he can become a carbon copy of those hitters. I actually don't even think he can do that. I think he just needs to be satisfied with what he can hit which is pumped up to the plate in this version of MLB in abundant supply and with reckless abandon.

A great 6 innings. When he starts giving the SOX 7 innings, I will be more thrilled.

He easily could have gone 7, I don't know why Cora didn't let him have another inning. But Walden was solid so it didn't matter.
