Do people want him DFA'd?

Would they trade him for a single A decent prospect?

A nice AA prospect?

A top 75-125 prospect?

A top 75 prospect?

A decent ML RP'er?

A very good, low cost RP'er?

What?

Nobody has made any suggested trades.

Do we want JD playing FT in the OF and increasing the chances of injury?

Is Chavis really good enough to be a FT DH?

People who could say "they should have traded him in 2016 when his value was high" are not the same as people who say now "trade 2019 JBJ for a middle reliever".

One poster suggested a trade of Jackie Bradley Jr. for slumping Seattle center fielder Mallex Smith but with the years of team control the Mariners would be unlikely to do that trade.

I’ve asked numerous times and no one has an answer. If we do trade/release JBJ, what’s the better option? If you think JBJ sucks, you can’t be expecting much in trade. Is the plan to release him and have JD full time in OF? You want Nunez out there? Someone on a different team? Who we trading for him? Not like we have many prospects worth dealing.

Bad poll. Not enough options.

It was meant to be a simple binary proposition - do you want him here or wish he was gone? No need to muddy the waters with all the different scenarios. IMHO

he's a minimum 2+ fWAR player (for those that like WAR) each year. as jbay said to all those that are done with JBj - who are your replacing him with? go on record...

thats how i read it.

Under no circumstances should he be released . As for a trade ; that can't be answered without knowing who would be coming in return . I would not trade him simply to save money .

...and trading him would not get us under any tax line this year.

Too late! Consider this muddied. Just look at the other responses.

Maybe the poll could have read...

__ DFA'd, if not able to trade

__ Trade for the best we can get, even if a single A nobody

__ Trade for a good prospect

__ Trade for a decent, less costly RP'er

__ Keep him, at least until this winter

The tax hit would be prohibitive but our favorite bust is hitting .282 with a .350 obp so far in Pawtucket this year.

Bryce Brentz is tearing it up! Hitting .146 with a .262 obp. Outf***ingstanding.

I assume any trade would be for “the best the Sox can get.”

There is also the possibility of a bad contract swap, assuming you think JBJ has a bad contract..

The Sox ruined Brentz’ development!!!

Also, he’s not good at baseball...

Lol. He ruined his own chances by shooting himself in the leg.

They should have brought him up the year he was tearing the cover off the ball.

That gd Farrell or Cherington or Luchino or whoever can be blamed when all unexpected bad things happen.

I actually projected he'd shoot himself 4 weeks before.

(Just kidding.)

I would trade anyone for the right package. This poll isn't realistic because we there is no "trade for" clause. If we get someone like Trout (yes, its unrealistic) everyone would want him traded; if we get a class A stiff no one would agree he should be traded. It all depends on what we get for him.

Right. So there's not much point having a poll option 'would you trade him if the return was good enough?' because then most everyone would say yes.

theres a million different scenarios. im not sure why it's hard to comprehend what your poll is attempting to do. it's a pretty simple yes or no question. not really gray area.
