Don’t have to convince me twice. I’m with you. At what point do they say screw it just go out and pitch?? He’s been dreadful. Clearly “saving” his arm isn’t working. He’s getting lit up as bad as he did in Seattle. If his normal fastball doesn’t return I totally agree. Something is up.

He’s not getting lit up; 6 of those hits have been ground ball/weak contact types. But the lack of swing and misses is a major concern.

Sale looks disoriented and probably focusing on the cheap hits and base running, loses his cool and command. Did he screw up Vazquez on the change up vs slider or did Christian forget what he called??

I’m thinking Sale messed up.

Bad weather today, 43 degrees and rain. Better tomorrow \ thru Saturday. So, honestly, I give the Sox and Sale a pass today even though I hope the home crowd warms our guys up (and not the Jays).

Sadly prophetic. Big home crowd sure hasn't helped.

And I’m not a big fan of booing but in this case it is well deserved because there have been waaaay too many mental errors this year. Physical errors happen; mental ones are lack of focus.

We are in a lot of trouble early. About to be 3-9 and 5 games under the division leader with zero signs of showing we can climb out of This hole. Our win against Oakland was 1-0. Nothing overly to brag about. With this rotation keeping this up we are hot garbage.

come on Tyler. you cant give up on todays game yet. we got this.

Here's a talksox observation. Sunday was a great win and the shortest game thread this season. Today the Sox are getting stomped, it's only the 4th inning, and we are already on page 9 (Sunday's game thread was 6 pages and postmortems took it to 7).

In other words, talksox denizens prize griping over hosannahs.

Sign behind home plate says "Kids Eat Free When Red Sox Win" The children of Boston look to be going to bed without supper so far, but it's still early and not over until its over. 27 outs can be tough to get.

For Sale it’s lit up. 6 hits against this garbage s*** team who is among the worst offenses in the league is crap. His start against Seattle is much worse but this is brutal. For Sales standards. Maybe if this was Clay Bucholtz I would cut some slack.

Pedey's in a groove--weak grounders right to the SS.

he's now on the Chris Davis watch list as he goes 0 for two seasons, leaving a lot of men on base. Tough day to come back from a long, long layoff at this level. For all we know he may get the gamewinner in the bottom 9th.

He's at 5 at bats since 2017. Give him a break

tough to watch both Moreland and JDM hit lasers to the warning track for outs while the Blue Jays bleed runs through the infield.

Sale pulled after 76 pitches--not many--7 hits (all singles), no walks, 3 K's, and 5 runs. Oh, and 54 strikes--about 70% strikes.

I still think we have the talent to win this. But I’m definitely worried about Sale. I’m chalking it up to just a couple early bad starts but it’s concerning.

How can anyone not get a 2014 vibe with this team. What hurts is that Tampa is off to a great start.

It may not be a 2014 vibe, but it's definitely not a 2018 vibe. The vibe is somewhere in-between.

@PeteAbe

Jays manager Charlie Montoyo was lamenting his team's lack off offense before the game, too.

Sox pitching can be their cure.

After 3 starts in 2018, Sale had a 1.06 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, and 12.2K/9.

I’m not positive yet, but I don’t think he’s been replicating those numbers...

There’s a name for this phenomenon; baseball

Maybe he lit a spark under them. Hopefully Cora can do the same with our guys.
