For me, I've always laughed at the "PATRIOTS ARE BIG FAT CHEATERS" hysteria. Any idiot fan from other cities who doesn't know that EVERY NFL team tries like hell to steal plays & signals deserves to work themselves into a snowflake fanboy meltdown. If you really don't know that EVERY team in EVERY pro sport tries their damnedest to bend the rules to get a leg up, YES, even pulling the dastardly deed of ball pressure manipulation by a quarterback, please know we are laughing our arsses off at your naivete! It's just fun knowing that you are that stupid, & literally cry yourself to sleep over these wrongs your PURE team faces. ;) LOL :0

On the other hand, it's gonna be fun to see another team squirm.

Thank God! I've been looking for a reason to hate the Astros! ;)

Swept under the rug.

Definitely!

I think the story may have legs, & could crawl out from under the rug?

It seems to be getting some coverage. The details are pretty weird. Not exactly high-tech snooping, more like some guy hanging around the dugouts with a cell phone.

Ah, but not just "some guy," a guy who is employed by the ASTROS. A guy who the ASTROS acknowledge works for them.

The real HATEABLE MLB character, possibly deserving his own thread? Machado

What a POS!

Yeah, it doesn't look good on them, that's for sure. It's a real head-scratcher why, if they were going to cheat, they would choose a method so easy to detect.

According to ESPN:

Dave Dombrowski, Boston's president of baseball operations, said MLB dealt with the issue early in the game.

"That didn't have anything to do with the game. Really, all I can say is it's in Major League Baseball's hands," Dombrowski said. "It was done early in the game, caught early in the game. There are things they were dealing with. It's in Major League Baseball's hands. But it did not cost us anything."

Maybe Cleveland would like to know.

It's been reported that Cleveland is the team that alerted the Sox to this issue.

Cleveland was also on to this guy.

& yes! DD did in fact deal with the issue early on in Game 1 ALCS.

It would stand to reason that this is a coordinated effort by the ASTROS organization to steal signs. Now, don't get me wrong! I'm not at all shocked by this! Every team does this at some level. This of course explains why neither the Sox or Cleveland have made a big deal about this. Nobody really wants to get too outraged about it, as that would simply bring light on what they all do.

For me, it's just fun to point out that they all do it, & stick it up the arsses of those who are constantly calling the PATS "cheaters." These guys who are constantly going off about this with the PATS are either incredibly stupid, hopelessly naive, or complete idiots. Most likely all 3.

i mean...we can all throw stones....but there was that whole iphone thing.

thanks Pedey!!!

Weren't they using a live game feed. That's a bit different from stationing a guy near your dugout with a camera.

Apparently the Dodgers claim the Astros did this last year in the World Series. If so, they are doubly stupid for trying it against Boston, since our manager was in their dugout last year.

Or maybe the Dodgers are just paranoid finger pointers, which also happens a lot in professional sports...

Ok pardon the language but who really gives a flying f*** whether the Astros were trying to steal signs? Does anybody think that that doesn't happen. It happens in almost every game played at every level. If they weren't trying to steal signs, it wouldn't be normal. It doesn't appear that they had an illegal device hidden anywhere within the domain of the Red Sox. The only reason that this becomes news in New England is because there are actually still people out there who think that Tom Brady is the only QB in the history of the game who tampers with footballs before games are played.

I can't help but think of all of the times in my baseball days that while I was taking my lead of the bag, it was my job to let our man at the plate know what the next pitch would be. Most of the time we tried and most of the time we were wrong.

That is so very true. Being stupid although perhaps not fixable is not a crime that creates a punishable offense.

Swept under the rug.

@ByChrisMason

Major League Baseball: “A thorough investigation concluded that an Astros employee was monitoring the field to ensure that the opposing Club was not violating any rules... we consider the matter closed.”

Called it.

So MLB decided that the Astros get to be the police?

Maybe they could also let the Astros catcher call balls and strikes while they’re at it...

Honestly, who cares?

I do. I think that's a horrible story to use as a cover-up.

As a Patroits' fan, think other teams' fans would like it if the SpyGate resolution was "The NFL has determined that the Patroits were only filming the walk through to make sure the Rams were not using any illegal formations"? Or if the DeflateeGate excuse was "The Patroits were only trying... " Oh, wait. DeFlateGate doesn't need an excuse since the entire thing was a media fabrication that the Patriots were actually punished for....
