Once again in a ALCS since 2013. This should be fun and exciting against a very good team.

Sale and Verlander are announced. All have been said in that sentence.

If one team can beat the Stros is the Red Sox. As I said in other threads, We have the pieces and the intangibles to advance to the WS, so I'm very confident we are going to win this series and the WS.

This team has been built for this moment since DD arrived. It's our time and our moment, so we can't pass on this huge opportunity to win another ring, and become the best team of the century thus far and moving forward.

Everybody says this is going to be defined in 7 games; I say Sox in 4 or 5. Save my words.

Also, Aztec Gods are on our side.. so there's no way we lose this LOL!

Once again Positive Vibes only!

Go Sox!

I do not like the 2-3-2 format, as the 3 game series away takes away your homefield. I think the format should either be 3-3-1 or 3-2-2.

They used to have a 2-2-1-1-1 format, but it was scrapped when east coast teams were flying to the west coast and vice versa.

3-2-2 give one team 5 home games to 2, but I like the 3-3-1 idea.

As much as I dislike Verlander, I hope he does great tonight, go Astros!!!!

I hope he does great tonight with Kate, not so much tomorrow. ;)

You're not familiar with the D/M format?

I certainly am, but it is not the generally accepted format in the USA.

And last I checked they will be playing this game in boston, correct?

ooops you got me

Then tonight and tomorrow.... at least he will be in good mood

Verlander vs Sale. My take is the game will be close through 6. Sale will be pulled in the 6th, the sox will give up the lead in the middle innings then tie the game late off Osuna. Osuna has a history of shutting down the Yankees but laying down vs the sox. Extras, game goes 17 innings.

Anyone who is watching tonight's Dodgers/Brewers game will notice the importance of having a very good defensive catcher. The SOX are fortunate to have 2. So before any of us are inclined to criticize Leon's weakness as a hitter tomorrow night, please remember how things can go south quickly when a team doesn't have a decent catcher.

GO SOX!

I used to t think the 2-3-2 format was disadvantageous to the team with home field. Grew up with 2-2-1-1-1 and I think I was just used to it. But as long as the team with home field at least splits the first two, they only have to win 1 of the 3 away games to get the series back to their home field for the last 2. Is splitting the first 2 and winning one of 3 on the road too much to ask of the team with the best record? I don't think so. Get me to those last 2 games on my turf in front of my home crowd with last bats and I will take that even if I am down 3-2 in games.

Did you see Woodruff bang that HR off Kirshaw? Geez he is a better 9 hitter than JBJ is right now and he pitches for God sake.

Kershaw has been an awful big game pitcher. A match of Kershaw vs. Price would be interesting.

True but take nothing away from Woodruff. That was one heck of an AB. On those same pitches from Kershaw, JBJ would be walking back to the dugout. JBJ would never have taken that Curveball from the LH pitcher for one thing. He would have been front side open and swinging at air. He would not have hit the HR pitch either.

You could not have grown up with 2-2-1-1-1 in baseball. With the exception of one year, baseball has used the 2-3-2 format since the early 20’s. They even used it during all the Subway Series in NY and when the Browns and Cardinals met one time.

The one year they didn’t it was 3-4 due to travel restrictions during WWII.

I know basketball and hockey have used the 2-2-1-1-1 format but those sports almost never play back to back days in the postseason.

I must be thinking of the 2-2-1 of division play. I am going to have to think about where else that can be coming from in my memory banks.

Possibly a long lost "controversy" about going to 2-2-1-1-1 is stuck in my memory banks.
