I have long been critical of David Price ("Price can get you to the playoffs but he can't get you out the other side") but at this point we're between the proverbial rock and a hard place. We need a win tonight and Price when he's "on" is the best pitcher we've got to go.

Swallow hard, take a deep breath, and hope for the best.

Rank the following three pitchers by career postseason ERA from worst to best.

1. David Price

2. Chris Sale

3. Luis Severino

5.28 Price

5.85 Sale

6.26 Severino

Its Price against Cole, and therefore we are at a disadvantage. Got to hit tonight.

We've hit great pitching well several times this year. We have to do it tonight.

We've always seemed to pull out a win, when we needed it most. I'm confident this team will rise up again.

The Red Sox need a big start from Price. Chris Sale doesn't look healthy to me, so someone has to step up.

There is a long term problem with Sale's declining velocity and possible shoulder issue, something that can devastate a pitcher's career. If Sale's health issue lingers into next year, the Red Sox have little chance to compete for a championship in 2019. But I suppose there will be plenty of time to talk about that when the season is over. The bigger issue now is: can the Red Sox get past the Astros with a 70% Chris Sale? Probably not unless David Price steps it up. David Price to the rescue!!

Yes, Price today and then Porcello & Eovaldi later.

I think the Sox logic here is simple. Price is their second best pitcher. Like me, maybe they don't have much faith in post-season stats as they typically come from a small number of innings or plate appearances scattered out through multiple seasons. And I doubt they are putting any faith in Price's last start, since he struggled against the Yankees all year and they think that might be a bigger factor in his poor outing than any post-season willies...

That is my logic in starting Price in Game 2. Makes perfect sense to me.

Time for everyone to hold their collective noses as Price goes out there and once again proves that he is the consummate choke artist.

I hope I am wrong.

Think positive!

Post season Price is bad for business but he was good enough vs the Stro's last night.. thank God.

I think that we all hold our collective breath when he's on the mound.

Let's hope he keeps getting better and better as the post season moves along.

LETS GO RED SOX!!!

I am running Price right back out there for his Game 6 start, if needed.
