Of course he will. They are paying him too much and they need a lefty. Is he actually worse than Poyner or Scott? Now I do think Velazquez will get dumped in favor of Wright. Velazquez only goes because he has a flexible or resilient arm. I suspect Wright, if he works out can fill that bill.

Yes, he's worse than Poyner and Scott. Paying him "too much" has nothing to do with anything.

I'm sure Cora feels the same way.

I'm not sure why Cora stayed with Pom when it was obvious that he didn't have command. He doesn't have the stuff to get people out if he loses command of his fastball. Now the team is behind the 8 ball.

No need to see Pom the rest of the year now. There's plenty of pitchers who legitimately deserve a shot at the postseason

I think he wanted at least one inning out of him. He is trying to see if there's anything left. Clearly, Pom's tank is on empty. Any good outing is thanks to the RNG gods.

Yeah, there’s nothing left in that tank. Probably Cora just used this game as a final audition. I think he has finally made his case, and Pomeranz won’t pitch in Red Sox uniform again.

The thing is he was halfway decent for August. 5 pretty good outings (unscored on, maybe a walk or a hit allowed), 2 blah (a couple runs in 4 innings) and a Houdini performance last time out (4 innings, 7 hits but no runs). Nothing great, but far better than earlier in the year. Today, he had absolutely nothing.

To be brutally honest, I'm glad Pom got shelled today because I sincerely hope this ends his prospects for being on the postseason roster. Every time I see him pitch, I think it's a miracle when he gets anyone out because he has just two pitches--curve and not-so-fastball. He has no changeup despite being a lefty going against mostly righties, not much control, and a strong reluctance on some occasions to even throw the ball at all.

Pomeranz sucks.

X2 LOL!

and just like that, we came to alive. Hopefully we still can do something.

And if Pomeranz didn't give up 5 runs...
