I concur 100% with this. I’ll be surprised if Poyner doesn’t make it and someone of your 2-9 does.

The only close calls I see are...

Workman (Poyner or Velazquez takes his place)

Johnson or Hembree takes Velazquez's place.

I won't be shocked, if Kelly makes it, or even Kelly & Hembree, especially if we go with 12 pitchers.

Kelly and Hembree with Pomeranz are some of the few biggest disappointments this year. Will be really unfair and will hurt us a lot if they make the POs. I don’t think Cora will make himself harakiri LOLl.

Well, if Cora does have Kelly on his list for the playoffs, Kelly is doing just about everything possible to get himself off that list. :P

I wouldn't put Hembree in the same class as Kelly and Pom.

I wouldn't put any of these 3 on the PO roster, but Hembree is the best of the 3.

Kelly is lost.

Pom is, too.

I agree and think Cora will select from Workman, Poyner, Velazquez and even Cuevas before those three. What Kelly and Henbree do have is velocity, but what they lack is command. Whether due to nerves or mechanics, they have had problems over and over. The post season games will probably be low scoring and we can't afford relief pitchers who hit batters and give up walks.

I could see the first three, but Cuevas is a longshot and with 5.4 BB/9 this year in limited action, gives no indication that he is the solution to walking too many hitters.

I still think Kelly makes the roster over the other options, but might be limited to less crucial situations...

Kind of like jury duty.

Nicely said. Watching Kelly pitch, I sometimes get the impression he has a confidence issue. If so, maybe his subconscious is telling him--stay away from that playoff pressure.

As some have pointed out, Kelly might have an edge over some of the other guys just by the fact that he's been with the team the entire season. Plus, he does have his moments of brilliance.

I don't currently trust him, but I can see Cora sticking with him. Just keep him on a very short leash.

I have jury duty next month. I've been trying to think of ways to make myself appear crazy. That's hard to do though, as sane and rational as I am.

He was so good for the first two months of the season. Then it just seemed to disappear.

I agree right down the line. I think they go with 11 pitchers.

Tell the judge you are willing to let Betts walk. " This juror is excused."

At this point in time I would have Swihart over Devers, however, Devers has time to show some hitting prowess. I like Workman, not for his velocity but he does throw a sinking pitch that can draw ground balls. Thornburg has been iffy of late and no appearance in the last couple. What does that say?

Here's one I found...

Anyone still want Devers benched or off the playoff roster?

I'm not sure I want him off the roster but I sure don't want him in the field. We could carry him as a PH, I guess.

Why not just have a late inning defensive replacement lined up for him?

Because I have no faith in his defense in the early innings.

We're talking about the playoffs now, the time of the season when pitching and defense are the premier commodities. If we don't win the WS I want it to be because we didn't score enough runs, not because we threw the game away with errors. As I have said before, a team simply cannot give a good team 'extra outs' in an inning and expect to win.

I keep thinking back to 2013 when Iggy's error may very well have been responsible for the Tiger's bowing out of the playoffs.

I understand your position.

Personally I think Devers is a bit more likely to win a game for us with his bat than he is to lose one with his fielding, especially if you have a late inning replacement lined up.

But that could be wishful thinking on my part, admittedly.
