And that folks.. is whats called protection. Theres no way the Jays wanted to face JD with the bases loaded, thus Moreland got a nice pitch to hit. It doesn’t happen all the time, but thats what that was.

JD is so good that Moreland hits a 3 run game winning bomb and JD gets the credit for it.

POM started and the SOX still won. Enough said.

Pom pitched okay. I mean, he didn't implode for 6 runs or anything like that. Those walks are infuriating though.

I would give Pom ONE more shot as a starter. Then again, if the Sox didn't do that, I wouldn't complain.

White Sox just tied Yankems 3-3 on 2 run dinger.

It's too bad the Yankees won anyway, but it was nice to see Britton cough up that lead.

I went to bed after the 7th (not because I didn't believe but because my new job with UConn football requires me to wake up early). I have just one question: How in the world did we win this game?

Seems like Stroman's blister was the turning point.

It was.

he looked pretty bad. it's amazing they didnt score more off of him.

He didn't have great command.

He had a lot of base runners, for sure.

But, he kept most of them from scoring.

Well, Moreland obviously is good enough to take advantage of that situation. But yes, JD in my mind, I credit him with .5 Hrs and 1.5 RBI on that. Absof***inglutely :D

Au contraire. I would argue that the walks, within reason, are crucial to his pitching style these days for the simple reason he can't afford to attack the strike zone. 2 runs in 4.2 innings is pretty close to optimal for Pom these days. In his last two starts he has walked 5 guys in 4.2 innings and 4 in 5 innings--to go with 2 runs in each game. Bad as those walks are, they "work" in the larger context of what he needs to do out there.

I am as anti-Pom as I can be, but I will readily admit his last two starts are encouraging. No, not encouraging enough for me to want him to stay in the rotation, but encouraging enough to think he won't kill us in the hopefully very few starts he as left.

Hopefully, that very few is no more than two.

If he can go 5 innings and give up 3 runs or fewer, I'm good with that for our #5 starter.

The walks do infuriate me though.

We are in a position where we can throw Pom back out there again. That said, I think we have a better option in Johnson right now.

I just looked at the Sox scheduled starters for the next 2 weeks and Johnson has one more start, then back to the pen. Pomeranz stays in. But I'm sure that when E-Rod comes back Pomeranz will go. Sale - Price - Porcello - Eovaldi - Rodriguez find me a better rotation in MLB.

I like what i have seen from Johnson. Wish we went to a 6 man rotation.

Pom gets a lot of those "just one more" starts. I'll be glad when he's gone a la Buchholz.

Yes, he does, for two reasons:

1. He hasn't been flat out terrible.

2. We have the luxury of a 9 game lead to do so.

It wouldn't bother me so much if the starts weren't at the expense of Hector Velazquez and Brian Johnson.

I don't disagree with that Ken.

IMO, Velazquez and Johnson are more deserving of a rotation spot at the moment than Pom is.

Some of the outs were pretty well hit including the line drive he snagged himself..Drew's ultimate problem is that if he has to pitch like a Jamie Moyer type, then he must have tremendous control to move locations around and hit it, just inside th umpire's perceived zone. That is what he can't do right now. Also his mechanics all go to hell when pitching from the stretch and he leaves his left arm( the one with the ball), way behind his body so he can't bring the pitch down and in with any force. You would think a pitching guru could walk/talk him through all that, but he may be less than trainable like some other throwers who have been out there.
