I apologize for misplacing the game thread yesterday and must confess that this morning I looked for it in vain until I discovered it in the talk sox forum. Hopefully, at some point YOTN will move it over here.

 

As for tonight, it sure looks a mismatch. On the surface the $30M arm should make mincemeat of the rookie starting for team with 25 wins vs. a team with 60 wins. But the harsh reality is that Price gave up five dingers in his last start (at Yankee Stadium) and Keller has been sensational since being called up in late May. Thus it's nice to have a two game lead what with Severino going for the Yankees tonight.

Merrifield has been mentioned as a trade target for numerous teams, but Royals don't have to move him.. Also, he is definitely not just a utility player, he is a damn good player.

Well this is a big ballpark. With two outs the runners are running on contact. So in a park this size I would have preferred Beni not test Perez there because there is quite a good chance that a base hit in the gap goes to the wall here. That is way out there in just about every part of this park and Beni scores from first. I suppose I might have liked it more deeper in the batting order. But not there.

Perez is known for making great plays, he is a gold glove catcher for a reason. Testing him there just isn't smart.
