Just found out I'm going to tomorrow's game! Some family friends are going on one of those chartered bus trips that include dinner and a ticket to the game, and one of them had to cancel so I'm taking the ticket and the spot. This will be my first time at the new Yankee Stadium. I imagine it will be filled with the same *******s as the old one, except this time with better accommodations?
The new place has priced out most of the really bad *******s, although I can’t speak for the bleachers. I will be at Saturday’s game. So, there will be at least one ******* rooting for the visitors. Edited by a700hitter

Sweeping the Angels this year 6-0, is very impressive, and Mike Trout was kept very much in check all season. Nicely done.

Those two things probably aren't a coincidence.

They say that it has never been done by the Red Sox — sweeping the Season series against a west coast team.

This is a really good way for the Sox to move on to NY. They will see better pitching from NY. The only guy the Angels threw out there that could pitch at all, the Manager pulled! Atta boy Mike.

Agree. Also looks like he could play the banjo.

Great win. Sweep! Now let’s send a message to the skanks this weekend!

Amen brother! Put up or shut up time. Fortunately we have Pearce in house to help.

I thought it was funny.

Now I am thinking of Natalie Wood.

Hard to believe that she would be about 80 now.

Her death was very sad and somewhat mysterious. The tabloids are still on the case, trying to nail Robert Wagner for it!

Columbo would have figured it out years ago. It was probably Robert Culp who did the dirty deed.

Yes, either Culp or Patrick McGoohan.

I still believe DD is looking for another reliever. He has to.

Oh, before I forget. F you, C. Smith.

Could not agree more. Oh , and Joe Kelly keeps auditioning for the role as the next ass clown in the bullpen. If you are Cora , how much confidence can Joe bring after those 2 Angel appearances ? Beni totally saved his butt on the play in LF.

If managers lost confidence in a RP'er based on just his last 2 appearances, there's be nobody left to have any confidence in.

Maybe we have diffeent views on what inconsistent means, but I'm not sure how Kelly fits that bill. Hembree: yes. Barnes: probably.

Kelly

Game 1: horrible

14 straight with no runs allowed and no inherited runs allowed

3 games in a row where inherited runs scored + 1 of his own

8 games in a row with no runs or IRs scored.

From May 29th to June 28, he's been a mess. 8 of his 12 games, he's let up an ER or IRS.

I guess one could view this as highly inconsistent, but my guess is most RP'ers have stretches quite like this.

Barnes has allowed 11 IRS and 10 of his own over 34 appearances. They've been pretty well spread out, except for one bad 3 game stretch at the end of April.

I don’t understand why everyone seems so determined to pin it on Wagner. Christopher Walken was on that boat. That is one creepy guy, does anyone doubt he’s capable of murder?!

Fair point. I believe the premise is that Walken was 'the other guy' in her life, and thus Wagner is presumed to be the one with the motive.

I have a completely unfounded hypothesis that some pitchers lack a lot of self confidence and easily talk themselves out of their potential abilities. They are also sometimes not the sharpest knife in the drawer. Recent examples , IMO, are Clay Buchholz and Daniel Bard. Joe Kelly's "streakiness" (not inconsistency) is beginning to look similar. Joe may be the JBJr of the BP.

I rewatched his inning from last night again. He had 0-2 counts on Trout and Upton, only to walk MT and give up a hit to Upton. He was ahead of Pujols 0-1 before his hit scored trout. Simmons hit a bullet that Betts intercepted, and Beni made a leaping catch to stop the next shot. Finally Joe git a routine fly ball. OK, so two games in a row of true slop and never a domiant pitch after getting a strike or two up. Indicates no fine command of his fastball or slider. Just a bad 2 nights or a guy who cannot bring a tough mindset to the park each day ?

Mental toughness is a factor for a pitcher, I don't doubt that.
