Ya, but.. weren't you also hot on Duda at the time?

a700 was spot on about Duda.

He sucks.

Glad we signed Moreland.

And let's look at their fWAR's, roster impact and whether they would have actually made us a better team...

So we’re going to use half a season of data vs the careers that brought them to free agency?

If the Sox need Jalen Beeks to make key starts in September, will you be defending him over Hellickson or Lynn?

Is Swihart the better than Lucroy?

Matt Adams (.935) is "junk?"

Plus, it's not like we're hind-sighting dubs that are having good years, we talked about getting some of these guys before the season started.

Notin mentioned some pitchers.

He was hot on Logan Morrison too.

Now with the benefit of hindsight Matt Adams looks like the pick of the litter!

Hellickson was on the DL a month, just came off and got bombed.

The point is, each one of these guys with the possible exception of Moose carried a lot of risk. Was DD supposed to fill his cart with them like it was the clearance section at Ball-Mart?

For zero risk minor league deals, why not?

There are some it made sense to avoid, but plenty of others that it didn’t...

Ball-Mart pitchers have a short expiration date before they are tossed in the Dumpster. Edited by a700hitter

Lynn was not available on a minor league deal.

You're bouncing all over the place.

I will be going to the Met doubleheader today. I love 2 games for 1 admission. Those are rarer than seeing a bald eagle in the wild. Is there anyone for whom you want a scouting report? The fans in the stands will know. There will only be hardcore baseball fans at the Mets games from here on out. They suck balls. The pink hats have all migrated to Yankee stadium.

Edit: The fans in the upper deck will be able to tell me how often a pitcher goes to his hat and after a certain number of times it will indicate that his toast. No fangraphs needed. I'll be sitting with human fangraphs.

FEE-MALE???!!!

Man, we just can't resist some things, can we?

Not sure what you mean. I was making a reference to the movie Trading Places where Roosevelt Beeks ends up in a gorilla suit.

As Diceman would say: "Two for the price of one. I like that".

Man, the Mets sure are an inept organization.

How you can be a big market team like that and consistently put that poor of a product on the field is beyond me.

They got no balls. It takes Jupiter balls to run as a major market team.

Me too. The gorilla keepers said Beeks must be the female and Beeks says 'female?' in horror.

It's f***ing criminal.

Hahahahahahahaha!1!11

Now I remember! That was Al Frankin.

The expression on Beeks was a riot.

who should we trade for or get to improve the team? Moon had some sensible advice of waiting to the deadline before getting another acquisition. He suggested it for two reasons.

1. We have limited trade chips and financial resources and might have to lose a salary to take on another and stay under the luxury tax penalty cap.

2. We might get an injury that would change the priority of who we look to acquire.

We have just sustained that injury in Vaz and he will take around 8 weeks to heal and another period to get back to ML ready. That could mean mid September so we might put that position as the highest priority.

My view is that we could use help now at SP, RP, 2nd Base, CF and now catcher. I personally think it is between a quality long reliever and a catcher if I was the one setting the priorities. We shall see.

Waiting until the deadline also gives the Sox a chance to see what Swihart does. If an upgrade is seen as necessary at that point then try to make a deal.

Realmutto is the player or Scooter Gennette both deliver a championship caliber lineup .

Why would the Reds trade Gennett when they have him for another year under team control?

Realmuto isn't a FA until 2021. The Marlins need to keep at least one player around so why not their AS catcher?

I don't think either are realistic trade candidates.

Even if the were, the Sox don't have the pieces to make a trade like that and they don't have the luxury cap space.

I'm really scratching my head over the pressing need in some people's minds to trade for anybody right now. We have some guys toward the back end of our lineup who might even be stars playing for someone else. Outside of a few teams, ml baseball really isn't high on quality this year. Go with what we got.

They are the most recent New York team to appear in the World Series...

If the Sox want to upgrade 2B, the Tigers just DFA'd Dixon Machado.

I know Machado was only hitting .206/.263/.290, but he hasl had a .249 BABIP. On top of that, per fangraphs, he had a 25% line drive rate. Only one other player in MLB had a line drive rate of 25% or more and a BBIP of .249 or less, and that is Anthony Rizzo.

Machado also had a 32% hard hit rate, which puts him about 15th in MLB for 2B.

And naturalyy, he posts positive defensive numbers.

Best of all - he's free...
