The kid is coming up. Not sure if it’s a one start thing or an audition for bigger things. Clearly Wright staked his claim to a spot last night. It will be interesting to see how he does

My question is, why insert Wright and Beeks into the rotation and only remove Pomeranz? Are they just looking to give the guys a 1 day breather to reset or is there another issue one of the core four starters is facing?

He's just coming up for one start.

Doesn't that use up one of his option years if he gets sent back down? Even once?

This won't be his only appearance this year. I bet he gets a lot of run down the stretch. Could be a great guy out of the pen in Sept.

He was added to the 40 man roster in November and was optioned to Pawtucket in March, so this year is already an option year.

Cora is pushing everyone back a day (two with the off day Monday), which is why Wright started last night. The starters are getting a week between starts. ERod will go tonight and he last pitched on the 30th. Pomeranz pitched in Houston on the 31st

Like this move, gives extra rest for Price and Sale, especially with a day off on the 18th. Now these guys are thinking. Give a kid a Cup of Coffee, see what he got, and although Tigers are not a Power house, they are not really terrible.

Guessing here, but I'd say he's probably up mostly to set the rotation up after the personnel change

Kid kind of reminds me of a guy named Kason Gabbard, who came in back in 06-07 and was big for us down the stretch when Schilling got hurt. Threw a CGSO and had a few other strong outings before he got traded to Texas.

Anyone still remember him?

Yes, but he will pitch other games. The rest of the staff isn't going to stay healthy all year.

Yes. He also started that game for the Rangers where the team gave him 30 runs of support, which was the most runs scored by one team in a game since 1897...

Gagne. And the Rangers got 2 starting players out of that deal, David Murphy had a fine career in Texas, and Gabbard was on course for one before he hurt his elbow and lost all semblance of command.

It makes sense to build in a rest day. The sox need their horses ready for September. With their record, they are 8.5 games up on a playoff spot. A few more throw in games for Beeks and Wright will allow your guys to stay strong

Seems to me we are auditioning some players also ...Who is on the DL now who is hurt worse or not responding the way they thought ? Answer ? Pedey ....Trade in coming very soon .

It does make some sense to let Beeks get a feel for pitching in Fenway and setting him up (possibly) for more work later in the season. The added rest for Sale, Price, Porcello won't hurt and is likley a set up for a better rotation when the Mariner series starts up, then Yankees at end of month. Cora is definitely taking advantage of the big win total to avoid overstressing this team early, given the Yankees comparable start.

The season may well come down to Mookie Betts fairly prompt return (or not), and Pedroia's ability to play. DD and Cora did not count on 500AB seasons from Holt and Nunez as the difference makers for this team's excellent run. JDM was expected to do well and has exceeded that. Devers needs to stabilize and at leat hit .250/.275 with rbi production. He could have had 10 in the past week that he blew.

VB ,I agree with everything you expounded on .The only thing I'd say is there is a real likelihood Swihart and someone else is headed out for a legit second baseman....Dont think I'd mind Scooter in Boston .

I haven’t heard much about his size, mostly about his cutter. Maybe you should change your news source bro

His height has been one of the first things people have talked about his whole MiLB career. The thought is that he'd wind up in the pen due to his stature. The cutter is a recent phenomenon.

So you recommend that I ignore the entire Boston sports media?

Good plan.

There’s enough smaller outlets that give pretty solid coverage. Granted, you have to look a bit deeper, but it’s a hell of a lot better than Felger and Mazz
