  1. Barnes has obviously struggled lately, but there are some signs of life. His BABIP is unsustainably high, and most of his problems have clear fixes. He should be able to figure it out down the stretch https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/08/29/looking-into-matt-barnes-recent-struggles/
  2. Chavis couldn't anyway because of the PED suspension. Phillips could help for the playoffs in case Kinsler gets hurt again. Dude's been raking at Pawtucket, I could see him fighting Nunez for a bench spot
  3. The Red Sox only have 39 guys on the roster, and they'll need to add someone before September 1st if they're to be eligible for the postseason. My money's on either Brandon Phillips, Travis Lakins, or Kelvin Herrera in a trade https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/08/24/candidates-for-the-boston-red-sox-40-man-roster/
  4. You can't help who's on the schedule, all you can do is play. And the Sox sure have been playing
  5. We're on pace for 109 wins, and I think we can exceed it. We should be even better in the second half. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/07/09/110-wins-not-impossible-for-boston-red-sox/
  6. People really don't understand that it costs something to get something. The Thornburg trade was a disaster, and he bought high on Pomeranz, but aside from that every trade has, at the very least, been a win-win
  7. Sandy's actually been the better offensive and defensive catcher this season. Obviously, injuries are never ideal, but this move might actually improve lineup production https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/07/08/what-christian-vazquez-injury-means-for-the-boston-red-sox/
  8. Small sample size, but Chavis has done well since his suspension ended
  9. Read an interview with Kent in which he somewhat talked about his lower velocity. Early in his career, he tried to constantly attack hitters every at-bat. While it worked in Lowell, he found out he didn't have the stuff to get away with that against higher competition. He's become a much more cerebral pitcher, so I don't think the lack of velocity will slow him like it did Hall or Camarena Here's the interview: https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/07/06/interviewing-portland-sea-dogs-all-star-matthew-kent/
  10. I know the Sox farm system isn't that great right now, but there are quite a few guys at Portland who have some great potential. Don't know why more people aren't talking about them. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/07/06/underrated-portland-sea-dogs-prospects/
  11. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/05/06/how-tyler-thornburgs-return-affects-the-red-sox/ The Red Sox just optioned Cuevas to bring back Thornburg. While he will never be worth what we gave up to get him, I’m looking forward to seeing what he’s got
  12. Price needs to get better against the Yankees, but he’s a very reliable starter the other 151 games a year
  13. If it’s a Kelly vs Sevy fight, I’ll take Kelly all day long
  14. Classy fan. This guys good against us, let’s try to injure him!
  15. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/07/01/rafael-devers-yankee-killer/ This kid absolutely crushes the Yankees, especially on the road. Youngest player in Sox history to go 5-5, and he's batting .326/.354/.500 on the road against New York. I don't think this is a fluke, either. I think this success is here to last.
  16. Another big series coming up, guys. I got us taking two of three https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/28/series-preview-boston-red-sox-vs-new-york-yankees/
  17. He’s 21 and playing in the majors. That alone shows his bat is a lot better than “so-so at best.” His fielding isn’t great, but he makes some amazing plays when he doesn’t have time to overthink it. Most of his issues appear mental, and they should get fixed as he gets older
  18. I'm just praying to God that we don't trade Devers. He's way too good a player, and he's worth so much more than a Machado one-year rental or a late-inning reliever like Brad Hand https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/20/trading-rafael-devers-is-a-terrible-idea/
  19. I am strongly against trading Kimbrel. Giving away one of the best closers in baseball is a bad move when you’re one of the top teams in the league
  20. Lowrie's hitting .305/.340/.432 against lefties this year with a 114 wRC+. He's a career .282/.346/.426 hitter with a 112 wRC+. That's pretty good! Not elite, but a lot better than what we currently have
  21. Devers is probably going to be better than Machado (or at least a similar player) and be considerably cheaper. Also, we couldn't sign Machado and stay under the luxury tax unless we got really creative with it. DD says he's going to try to stay below it
  22. Absolutely not. Devers is gonna be a beast with five years of team control, and he’s already getting better. Machado is a one month rental
  23. Even when Pedey comes back, I'm not sure how much you can rely on him staying back. His body has been through hell, and he deserves all the credit in the world for doing all he does to get in the lineup. However, I think you need to find a second base option that's capable of hitting lefties and being a day to day starter. Presumably, Castro would cost too much to acquire, so to me Lowrie is the best option
  24. https://redsoxunfiltered.com/2018/06/17/possible-boston-red-sox-trade-targets/ We've been absolutely awful against lefty pitching, and that should be the first thing we address in any trade. There's a few good players out there that should be available though, and I'd love a Lowrie reunion.
