Our man Sandy Leon is hitting .254, and GARY Sanchez is hitting .210. So much for our needing catching help.

The only negative this game exposed was that there's some guys in the SOX BP where a 5 run lead is not safe.

They could of left him in and the result would have been the same.

The tying run IS on deck...unless I can't add. A slam makes it 8-7; another HR by the on deck hitter ties the game

Save #17

Velasquez has an ERA of 2.15 and is 5-0 this year so far...just not a good outing for him, but he has been solid overall.

Those who are clamoring for Velazquez to take Pomeranz's spot need to note that Hector has been scuffling quite a bit lately.

ERA of 2.45 for the six games in May in which he has appeared. Not a stellar OPS against though....but compared to Pomeranz, he is Sandy Koufax.

Nice win tonight. Leon had a tremendous game. So glad to see him making contact.

Leon is about to pass Devers in OPS.

Next, we'll here calls of "Fat Raff" to be DFA'd.

Yankems just tied Houston in the bottom of the ninth. I don't follow Houston, but I've heard their BP is pretty weak.

Yeah, remember all those high-scoring world series games... Devenski comes in tonite with a two run lead, walks the free swinging Andujar, and then gives up a homer to Gardner. Luckily he wormed his way out of lots of further trouble. Extra Innings

Astros closer just blew the save. What an a hole.

I hope they go 30 innings and wear each other out.

I can't wait to see the Sox add a run to Houston's ERA.

I got tickets to 3 games. Going with 3 different sets of Astros fans.

Great game, except I got distracted because someone hacked my phone and sent me a fake in-game update that Sandy Leon hit a home run. Lol can you imagine?

WTF!? Those bastard Yankee trolls will stop at nothing ! Damn them!

That’s pretty offensive. Sorry.

Yes, a 19 inning game would be most welcome. We need tons of innings put on those staffs!

I thought we needed an offensive catcher!? Not some mamby pamby effete genteel catcher. One with impeccable manners.... this is the attitude that banned blocking the plate?.? ;)

You need to be more careful about who you hang out with.

My God! Pretty soon we'll have a rule requiring formally announcing a slide into home plate? Perhaps the bench will even be required to chant "red rover red rover..." perhaps a little bicycle bell to slide into 2nd?

Ughhh! Yes! We have a truly OFFENSIVE catcher! I hear Sandy even spits seeds in the dugout????

Porcello looked good out there. Always a solid win over a division opponent. Make quick work of these Jays and get ready for a very intense series against Houston. Show what we are made of!!

Excellent. We will have an in-country, on the scene operative reporting back to talksox. Decades ago I was working in Oklahoma and could only get Astros games on radio back when Joe Morgan was their secondbaseman before he went to the Reds.

He sure did. Might be my imagination, but I thought he was keeping the ball low.

To Rick Porcello:

It's so simple, fellow

When ya keep the ball low

The wins will follow

Well in truth neither Pom nor Rick have enough movement on their FB's to just keep the ball low. They have to change hitters eye levels and when they go upstairs, they have to entice a swing while not encouraging contact. So both of these guys have to go up and down. Rick has more ammo in that regard than Pom. What is hurting Pom right now is that he has lost so much off his 4 seam FB that half of the equation for him is more or less off the table.

The only decision I would question from Cora regarding Rick was keeping Rick in to pitch to Grandy who has compiled a nice record v Rick over the years. Rick was throwing nothing at that point. He was done. Sox were lucky to come out of that particular AB just giving up two runs instead of three or even seeing Grandy take Rick out of the park. This baseball just goes like a rocket if the hitter gets even a part of the barrel of the bat onto it. So that was something of a risky move IMO.
