You know I've been rereading threads from the beginning of this site up until a few years ago, and even the gamethreads for games 2 and 3 of the 2004 ALCS weren't as relentlessly, annoyingly negative as the gamethreads so far this season.

Mitch Has officially won the starting first base job ....Just DFA Hanley and hope to God someone bites

The best player should play! And that means Moreland should be the starting first baseman.

No idea what Cora is doing, but clearly it is not in the best interest of the team to hope and pray a couple of guys end their slumps.

Hanley has dropped from .333 to .255 and lately has been hitting into lotz of double-plays on top of all the strikeouts. This team has to begin a serious assessment of Hanley for next year.

Sorry to add to the negativity, but I really hoped the excellence of JD Martinez would have motivated Hanley to lift his game back to what he is definitely capable of?

Instead ..... it seems that Hanley is back to bonghits & La Bamba???

I'm sorry, but 'it almost appears to me????,' ..... granted this is only my personal opinion based upon watching him day in & day out since the day he arrived, that Hanley is back on the daily toke team? ... He seems to going hard after class clown, & the inverted Triple Crown?

I honestly don't know what the hell his problem is, but he most definitely made the most of his vacacion with Pablo, & perhaps he's decided to blow out as the court jester & ease into early retirement??? So much for thinking about that triple threat from JDM, Mooreland, and Hanley on a more regular basis?

There is no injury, so Hanley just doesn't seem to have the heart to push this club toward a World Series???? I just don't think he looks like he wants it that much?

Time to cut the cord, & let him ease into retirement after a part time role the rest of the way this season? At this point, I'm not prepared to give Hanley the ab's needed for an extension next year!!!!!

I still LOVE HIM, but I'm exceptionally disappointed with his act? Too much goof, & too little grind! We CAN'T .... ABSOLUTELY CAN'T want it from him more than he wants it for himself! I think he's done? This is not just a slump. It's Hanley allowing himself to slip back to mediocrity because he simply doesn't want it badly enough to GET HIS f***ING HEAD in the game FULL TIME! 100%!

This decision may be above Cora's pay grade?

It's mostly due to one or two posters who are now on my block list. But it does make the threads almost unreadable. (Plus, of course, fans of other teams--but why they post here is something they need to discuss with their middle school counselor, not us.)

YOTN's point is especially poignant given that the Sox currently have the best record and the most wins in MLB.

On the game threads too often it appears we have dumbest players, the dumbest manager, and the dumbest GM in MLB. At least half the lineup can't hit, over half can't run the bases without "running into outs," and Mookie and JBJ alone are adequate fielders.

It's mostly 2 people, and IMO all they are showing is we have a couple of the dumbest posters in existence.

Last night's game was pretty s*****. Rather than piss and moan about it, I just followed along on mlb.com and watched The Magicians.

Games like this happen. Porcello has been fantastic all year and has had a rough last couple starts. If he was even decent last night we win this game. Not much you can do. Move on to the Braves. Which unfortunately won’t be easy. I haven’t paid too much attention to them as of recent because they have been so awful. But they are playing damn good baseball this year.

Yup, like I've said before even fans of the best teams go to bed upset 70 times a year. Sox are on pace for 110 wins and lead the division.

Can't expect a starter to be aces every time out. Not sure why Porcello slide so far last night as he could not even get any swing and miss on any pitch. They hit everything someplace.

As for who should go down for Pedey to come up. I am inclined to think they will start to shuttle relief pitchers back and forth from Pawtucket on an as needed and as used basis. They don't have enough every day players on this team as it is.

One problem; if a player is sent down, he has to stay there 10 days (unless a player with the big league club is placed on the DL).

Sometimes it doesn’t make sense. Pitchers just have off nights. Same as a goalie or a quarterback. I remember in 2010 when Peyton Manning threw 6 interceptions against the Chargers in one game and cost the Colts the game. And it was like...... “Are you even the same qb?” Lol. I’ve seen Price make a 45 save shutout for the Canadiens and two nights later let 4 goals in on 6 shots. Players are humans and unfortunately off nights happen. Sale and Price won’t continue to pitch like this for the Rest of the season. (I hope they do) but it’s unrealistic to think they won’t have a bad game once and a while. Porcello has been a gem this year. He’s just hit a rough patch and will bounce back.

The Sox did it last year without much difficulty. I don't know if we still have that same basket of not so good pitchers down there to fool around with...but I would bet we do. We have always a basket of doing nothing, going nowhere pitchers and we fool around with them liberally.
