German sent down. We will probably see Cessa. Sheff hasn’t pitched for SWB in 11 days although I know he did pitch in the futures game. I wonder if Cash just does what’s best for the team and bring up Sheff or if he keeps dicking around with other guys

Dumb move by Boone. After four days off , he goes with his weakest starter , with predictable results. Now , he is facing the very real possibility of being swept by the Mets. George must be spinning like a top in his grave. Sox may well be nine or ten games up by the trade deadline. I guess he is thinking that Severino will be fresh for the wild card game. # in over his head

One would think not starting your best starter in game one vs the best starter on the other team, you'd improve your odds of winning the next 2 games.

He is thinking and planning ahead instead of playing for today. The words is he wants to avoid Sonny Gray pitching in Fenway is why they set up their rotation out the break.

I've been checking out a Yankee fan forum (always fun at times like this), and Boone is really taking a pounding.

Cash has to take a pounding too. We have a top prospect totally ready in an area of need who is being held back by his 40 man status. If Sheff came on and dominated, we wouldn’t need a starter

Maybe not your best starter , but why use your worst ? Also , I would add that the Met's best is DeGrom , who goes Sunday night. Especially with Syndergaard coming back from an injury. The only odds that improved were the odds on a Met's sweep.

I hated Boone's decision to bunt with Didi in the ninth inning. If the bunt is successful, you lose Stanton's bat (intentional walk) and that is exactly what happened. The Yankees gave up an out and then lost Stanton's bat. Two negatives.

If Sanchez doesn’t loaf after the passed ball or on the final out of the game, we win that game. Sevy has to be better, but he’s been mediocre at best his last three starts. We’re scuffling over the last 26 games (13-13) while the Sox keep surging. Gotta focus on our schedule and win where we can rather than watch the scores on the board.

This season's version of Sanchez reminds me of Manny Ramirez's later years when he was a clown in the outfield and on the basepaths. Unfortunately Sanchez doesn't have the .300 BA to go with it.

Boone looked very uncomfortable when questioned about Sanchez' embarrassing lack of hustle. Sanchez is one more thing for him to worry about. Now , Severino is having problems. Face it , the Yanks simply cannot keep pace with the Sox. The lead may well be nine or ten games by the deadline. The Yankees only hope is to follow last year's path and win the wild card game. But no Minnesota this year.

If the Red Sox finish the season with a .700 winning pct then yeah, no way the Yanks are catching them. But are the Sox really a 113 win caliber team? Maybe the record says so, but it doesn't pass the eye test.

On a positive note, Sanchez ripped that ball in the ninth inning. He hit it right at the 2b playing near the bag, but he ripped the ball. I'm not sure what the exit velocity was, but I'm sure it was impressive. True, Sanchez didn't hustle but how many times does a second baseman make a boneheaded play like that? The 2b (don't remember his name) should have thrown the ball to first for an easy out and that happens 99% of the time. Instead, he tosses it to the SS who wasn't even on the 2b bag. To be fair to Sanchez, he didn't anticipate that kind of stupidity because it hardly ever happens in the major leagues. Sanchez ripped the ball but it was a routine play after that until the 2b turned it into a circus.

Sanchez also went after the passed ball in the first inning very nonchalantly. When the baserunner saw that, he headed for home.

Maybe Sanchez thought that grounder was a sure out at first, but that still doesn't excuse him from hustling down the line, especially in a bases loaded situation with the game on the line.

YES announcers should make a recording , " Pitch gets past Sanchez ." Then they would just have to push the " play " button when it ( frequently ) happens. Make it easier.

Might be time to consider Sanchez a backup catcher/DH going forward and we should go after a starting catcher in the offseason. Stanton would move out to LF which would free up the DH for Gary

That’s possible. Who knows. I think Cash needs to have a starting contingency going forward. Sanchez, when healthy, has a legit bat. He also has a legit arm behind the dish. He’s just lazy and slow back there
