Just musing, but with Perez going down for 6-8 weeks, I wonder what KC would be willing to give up for Swihart? Do they have anything that would warrant the Sox's attention?

I do not think Swihart's trade value is as high as his talksox perceived value (myself included).

That being said, how about Swihart, Travis, Johnson and Beeks for Danny Duffy?

We'd probably have to give ERod+ or JBJ & Johnson.

Duffy is signed for 4 more years. You'd have to give up ERod, Swihart and Johnson probably. Also, Duffy has never pitched over 180 innings in a year. He's not the guy to put you over the edge.

I'd also rather trade Leon. Maybe KC would want Leon for a AAA arm with upside?

While Duffy may not have gone 180+ neither have Wright, ERod and Johnson.

Maybe they'd take Leon and a pitcher for a better pitcher. Are they looking for a 1Bman or do they feel happy with Schwindel (1.300+ in ST'ing)?

If not, we could add Travis or Ockimey (or Chavis) to get a better return.

Swihart’s value isn’t as a catcher. The Royals are expecting to try and compete, but they know they don’t have the goods vs Minnesota or Cleveland. They’re not going to deal anything of value for a catcher they won’t need come the end of May

This ^^ rebuilding mode there. Too valuable at Trade deadline if they want Prospects, in the Minors. Edited by OH FOY!

In baseball, you can't trade 4 quarters to get a dollar. It's not how it works.

ERod is a good pitcher, but right now he's damaged goods. Chavis didn't play at all this ST. Ockimey isn't projected to be a major leaguer. I don't think the Sox want to trade Travis just yet.

This thread is not titled very well. What KC really needs are personal assistants to carry luggage from the airport to the hotel

I believe KC would jump at the opportunity to get Swihart, first to fill in as catcher for the 6 - 8 weeks it takes for Perez to return. And then KC won't be able to take Swihart's bat out of the lineup and will certainly find a position for him albeit OF, 3B, 2B, or 1B. Thus, it strikes me that KC would be a very willing trade partner.

That’s utter Nonsense. With our maxed-out budget, we can’t afford the phone call to begin with.

I suspect the Red Sox would receive a return phone call from the Royals on that offer.

All four Sox players have six years of team control but somewhat limited trade value.

The proposal might not work from the Red Sox end because of luxury tax implications.

We'd save $750K x 4 on the luxury budget with the trade.

Its too early to offer a catcher. Swihart is versatile enough to play other positions, and its still not known if he is adequate defensively or if Leon can hit the baseball.

Shouldn't have signed Benchwarmer Mitch!

Swihart won't be going anywhere...try Sandy .

If they are really hurting for a catcher right now, I don't think there would be any question which of those 2 guys they would want - Leon the finished product.

Let them have Sandy and Joe Kelly for free if they take Kelly .

Leon is a much more likely trade candidate on both ends of it ... KC needs a stopgap, Swihart is not proven enough for a team who will still go through the motions of trying to contend. Now BOS could possibly extract more than the sack of potatoes you'd probably get for Leon.

Who do you distrust more ? Buchollllllz or Kelly ? Would Buck make a better reliever than Kelly ...I ask because I'd like more than a chewed up gum in a Kleenex sent back ....Bucky for Kelly strait up no chaser ??? I wouldn't hang the phone up .
