Pretty damning, I have to admit.

Especially Brasier. He has been a find.

Right now I am most comfortable with Brasier, Barnes, Thornburg, Kelly, Velazquez and Workman in that order. Kimbrel is a special case as the closer. He has been off but he is what we have. I don't trust Hembree since he has often had terrible outings. Once in a while he actually does some good.

Here's a closer look at Hembree.

Games with less than or equal W+H to IP (If the one hit is an HR, I don't count it.)

Games with

8/12 April

5/11 May

11/12 June

7/11 July

4/7 August

35/53 Total (66% of the time he does okay or well. That's not very good, but it's not really all that bad either.

Let's compare him to your #4 guy, Kelly...

9/11 April

12/14 May

6/11 June

7/12 July

Red Sox have four of the major's Top 20 position players in fWAR and its #1 pitcher (despite pitching 20 fewer innings than any of his compatriots)

I love Bogaerts. He is hot and cold a bit but man when he's having a good night it's a really good night. Last night could have been even bigger had the CF not made a great play on his last shot.

Bogey worked on his strength in the offseason and it's really showing. Thank God that recent HBP turned out not to be an issue.

Bogey sees the contract coming. It is gonna be huge. He is primed for an even better 2019

Yep. DD sure has his work cut out with Betts, Sale & Bogey.

Kelly disappoints me in that he has good stuff, but he just can't harness it enough.

Exactly why he should have been dealt at the deadline. In short order he is a bust. One of the worst deals in Sox History

Still time to dump the stooge

He has made a clear contact for power sort of tradeoff and it has worked - even if it is more XBH than homeruns purely. Also - it helps to be able to grip the bat properly.

Not a great deal, but that of course is an absurd overstatement.

Really the "worst deal" (as hyperbolic as that is) is from Allen Craig's rotting corpse.

Agree, and Boras sees nothing in the Minors, to let him walk too.

Overpaid, but hardly a bust. Of the relievers who have not started, Kelly's 53 are second only to Barnes's 55 innings. He has, I think, pretty good stuff, very similar to what Kimbrel has--fastball and knuckle curve-- except that Kelly's fast ball is faster. But too often it sure doesn't seem to be keeping opposing hitters off balance. His motion seems to be different from most other pitchers and maybe that allows hitters to see the ball better.

Bogaerts is having a pretty darn good season.

He's being overshadowed by Betts and JD.
