Speaking of resting starters early in the season, I can't believe that Johnson is scheduled to open up the Yankee series. Sale pitches this Tuesday, but will have to wait till next Wed. to pitch again in game 2 of that series. At least this is the official projection on the various network team schedules. Are we out to win games or are we still in the exhibition mode?

It’s save some gas for October mode. I like it.

Many of my posts are in agreement or to add to someone's point.

I often use data to support my position, and maybe that comes off as trying to negate someone else's opinion. It's not intended.

I don't "live to negate."

For anyone to assume they know what motivates a post or a poster has and then to put it in words is asking for a harsh response.

Seeking validation is not even close to why I post. If I did, I would not bring up controversial positions. I'd be all rose-colored glasses.

My number one motivation for coming to the old BDC and now here, is that I no longer live in New England, so I have nobody nearby to discuss the great pastime and my beloved Red Sox. I moved to Mexico City in 2004 and started posting shortly afterwards.

Maybe Spud and others can hope I move back to Maine, and you'll be rid of me once and for all.

Whatever floats your boat.

I respect you. My first instinct is always to be funny. And it's not directed at the poster. Comedy is not easy.

I am good with this team except for one player. I will move on.

I get it, but a five day rest here and there should suffice. This is a full seven day rest between starts. I wouldn't even do that in August or Sept. And all past Red Sox managers have skipped backup starters (sometimes 2 of them) in the early season esp., given the days off and rain outs.

I think we all need to have a short memory. I've battled with you about your tired argument over giving up too much on Kimbrel trade. (that's a joke Moon).

But I enjoy your posts and contribution to the Board.

I really can't think of anyone that I dislike here. Maybe except for that guy keeps ragging on DD. (that's another joke)

You and I do see eye to eye on that one player.

Some here do live to negate the opinions of others. What they don't understand is that no matter how many numbers they pull out of their ass, they too are just stating an opinion which isn't worth a piss more than any of the other educated and studied opinions here. I know you to be a pretty calm guy and you have a long history here. You are not prone to overreaction.

I've never even meant to imply my opinion is better than anyone elses.

I know data can be pulled out of anyone's asses to make opposite opinions seem justified by the numbers. I realize UZR/150 and DRS do not prove I'm right, but there's nothing wrong with offering supporting evidence beyond just personal observation.

And by the way, my opinion on Bogey's defense not improving over the years was not formulated by data. It was formulated by me watching just about every pitch of every Sox game since I can hardly remember. I then went to look at the numbers to see if my opinion was justified or supported by other observers, like those who work in the UZR business.

If some poster takes my rebuttle personally and then tries to project false motivations on me, then I'm going to call it out for what it is..... BS!

Comedy on the internet is hard. Knowing your motivation, it was a pretty funny remark.

I know I get repetitive and give the same response to differing posters. Maybe that's enough to drive someone batty.

I know I've harped on Bogey's D for years, and I know I have a predisposition for great defensive short stop play, but I'm not the only one who does not think Bogey has improved his defense over the 4-5 years he's been in MLB. Many who do not use advanced metrics feel the same way.

Plus, nobody should have to feel ashamed for expressing a valid opinion or for using data to support an unpopular opinion.

Moon, I am not trying to pick a fight with you especially in the midst of 3-1 road start. LOL!! If Spud was wrong about you, it was not out of malice. He doesn't have a malicious bone in his body. It was just his perception.

Whoop-dee-freakin'-doo.

My perception is that he was being a big dick. So, he has at least one malicious bone in his body.

Defend him all you want, Maybe it's him that needs validation.

I could give a rats ass about it.

Hardly.

Actually I like getting into the sabermetric arguments with people who pull some information out of nowhere and educate me on the subject. It is difficult to be likewise educated (although not impossible) by someone who belIeves their observations are the end all be all

LOL!! Okay. If you don't give a rat's ass then you shouldn't get offended at the perceptions others have of you. There is a bit of a disconnect there...no?

I've always felt Bogey is a big overall plus. I'd love for him to be a better defender, and I hoped he'd at least get better to the point where he'd be average or better, but I haven't seen it. Others do: that's fine.

He makes the plays he gets to, and to me, some times that can be deceiving.

Just curious, who do you think I'm a "tard" on?

Moreland? Holt?

I could give a rats ass about being "validated."

I'm going to continue calling out dickheadedness, when directed towards me or others.

But you don't give a rat's ass... right?;)

Not about feeling validated, but I love to have a debate about a player's value or lack there of.

There's a difference, and I'm surprised you don't know that. Or, are you jusy yanking my chain?

We are 3-1. All is good... just poking your funny bone.

I'm thinking, we're 3-1 and only one guy is hitting well- Bogey.

Wait till this offense errupts!

It's all good!

Yeah, well we won a few by just a run. I'm happy with 3-1. I don't blame Cora for game 1. We might have lost a later game had we not had Kimbrel available due to pitching in game 1.

What if can drive anyone crazy.

I'm liking these numbers a lot...

Price 7 IP 0 ER

Sale 6 IP 0 ER

Velazquez 5.2 IP 1 ER

Porcello 5.1 IP 1 ER

Total: 24 IP 2 ER (0.75 ERA)

Yes, it was just the Rays, but it's a nice start.

No one is losing their mind. This forum is no different than Sox season. It will have its ebbs and flows.

Happy Easter to everyone by the way. I hope you got to spend it with your love ones.

I think it's PTSD from not scoring much last year and too many runners LOB.

PTSD is a disorder that develops in some people who have experienced a shocking, scary, or dangerous event.

PTSD: It is natural to feel afraid during and after a traumatic situation. Fear triggers many split-second changes in the body to help defend against danger or to avoid it. This “fight-or-flight” response is a typical reaction meant to protect a person from harm. Nearly everyone will experience a range of reactions after trauma, yet most people recover from initial symptoms naturally. Those who continue to experience problems may be diagnosed with PTSD. People who have PTSD may feel stressed or frightened even when they are not in danger.

Re-experiencing symptoms include:

Flashbacks—reliving the trauma over and over, including physical symptoms like a racing heart or sweating

Bad dreams

Frightening thoughts

Arousal and reactivity symptoms include:

Being easily startled

Feeling tense or “on edge”

Having difficulty sleeping

Having angry outbursts

Supplying data as support isn't the same as simply countering with opinions. Countering with observations and supporting logic is another matter. ..

I like this and I know that I am suffering from something because I want them to hit better than they did last year. Hope it happens.

There's something just not right with that freaking TropDome I tell ya. It's like trying to play baseball inside the Death Star or something. Don't judge anything by how the offense looked there.
