I agree. Either Cubs/Yankees or Dodgers/Yankees would be tremendous for the sport, but in 2014, Sports Illustrated predicted the Astros beating the Cubs in the 2017 World Series.

I noticed i. I thought the organ guy was playing some cool stuff and it was interesting to hear Lenny Kravitz during the 7th inning review play at the plate. Other that that is was noise.

I'll take the Dodgers. I think Dave Roberts makes a difference there. They might have the better bullpen as well. Cubs pen is looking a little iffy.

OK. But it was still a lousy trade. And Lackey was vastly better than any of our 'Who's the Ace' crew in 2015.

Not at all. I was a big Lackey defender. I also did not believe the rumor that he would sit out rather than play for the minimum.

 

We were out of it, when we traded 4 of our 5 SP'ers (Lester, Lackey, Peavy and Doubront) plus Miller. Most were FA's to be or with one year left (Lackey).

 

I did not like who we got for Lackey and the others, but I felt trading them was the right thing to do. The fact that we ended up with ERod, Kelly, Hembree and Porcello (via Cespedes) is mostly what people are upset about. Those trades are separate from the low ball offer made to Lester. Once that happened, I feel he was not coming back. I actually liked Kelly, and thought he'd be a nice starter for us for 4 years vs one year of Lackey- pouting or otherwise.

 

Lackey would not have signed with us had he stayed here that one more year, anyways. Whatever he did after 2015 was moot.

 

Also, we do not win in 2015 with just Lackey added back. Had we brought Lackey back and signed Scherzer instead of Pablo, maybe...
