Before Selig messed with things home field just alternated and everyone was fine with it. I understand the argument for best record but there are some issues with that too.

I think best record is fairer than alternating.

There's no fairness or anything to alternating - it's totally random!

Best record might seem to be fair but the first issue is the different leagues, different schedules and the fact that the team with the better record may have lucked into a much easier schedule. There's really no guarantee of fairness at all.

I know what you're saying and I agree, but put it in the hands of the team, don't just hand them it based on which league's turn it is. Not a perfect answer, but I think it's the best.

While we're at it, anyone know the tallest and shortest players in WS history? Googling only tells me the tallest LL player was 6'9".

Randy Johnson was 6 foot, 10 inches.

Hack Wilson, who drove in a record 191 runs in 1930, was 5 foot, 6 inches tall. Wilson played in the 1924 and 1929 World Series.

Yogi Berra and Joe Morgan, who each stood 5 foot, 7 inches, combined for 18 World Series.

I'd ask who was the ugliest player in WS history, but you already mentioned Yogi Berra.

Willie McGee was pretty bad.

I'd vote for Andy Etchebarren.

Very impressed with the astros. Didn't think they had a chance in a game 7 and i was wrong. Very resilient team. Thrilled for houston after all they have gone through.

Just when you start thinking no team can win these days without strong pen , Houston blows up the idea.

Charlie Morton of all guys.

The best team won.

I am happy for them.

Especially for Josh Reddick and George Springer.

Holy s*** Correa just asked his girlfriend to marry him. Lol.

Dope.

Now get to work Cora.

I live just Southwest of Houston (Sugar Land).

I'm glad these guys won. This area needed some diversion.

Plus, who wants the $Dodgers$ to win?

I wanted the Dodgers to lose.

I hope that this win can bring some happiness to the Houston area residents who have experienced so much misery and upset.

Holy s*** he should have treated his eyebrows with Agent Orange.

My vote for ugliest player of all time goes to former Jays pitcher Gustavo Chacin. I could hardly stand to even look at the guy, out of a combination of revulsion and pity.

Lucky for the Astros fans that Springer hitting randomness was off the charts.

Unlucky for the Dodgers that Turners hitting randomness was in the tank.

Congrats to the 2017 WS Champion houston astros.

that now leaves, Washington, Texas, Colorado, and Seattle as the only orgs without a parade....

Tampa, Milwaukee, and San Diego too.

I think I'm happiest for Verlander. Guy deserved a WS and the Tigers just couldn't quite get it for him despite having a worthy team a few times.

I saw several of their players here in the Quad Cities when they were in A ball. Correa, McCullers and Davenski were all here in 2013 while Bregman, Musgrove and Fisher passed through in 2015. There were a couple others who played a few games with the Astros this season; they could have been late season call-ups though.
