Barring a bog comeback, Porcello will lose his 16th game in 2017 -- 1 more than he lost in 2015.

He has a shot at losing 20 this year, and that's hard to do.

2011 got the manager that won a world series in 80+ years fired. Why has this dipshit Farrell has been immune? Cancer? f*** him.

Station13, you might be forgetting that firing a manager in September is pretty pointless, no matter how deserving Farrell might be.

In partial defense of Farrell, he did use 6 relievers last night--Kelly,Scott, Reed, Barnes, Hembree, and Boyer. The night before he used Workman, Abad, and Maddox. So he could have used almost anyone tonight. However, if he did use, say 4 relievers tonight, it might leave him a little shorthanded tomorrow. Leaving Porcello in was not completely baseless. The only thing is, he is still going to have to use 4 relievers, only now while trying to make up a 7-2 deficit (now 7-4).

So, at the end of the day, I still think he was wrong and should have erred on the side of caution--don't leave a 2 dinger starter in when every pitch is in the middle and the game is important. Had Farrell, acted sooner and prevented all 3 runs, this game would be tied.

Good pitchers don't lose 16 games. That's what this rudimentary stat says compadre. As you said, he sucks, you don't need to look at stats to figure out.

Actually, there are a lot of good pitchers who have lost 20 games, including several Hall of Famers. Note I am not comparing Porcello to any of them:

Phil Niekro (twice)

Wilbur Wood (twice)(to be fair, he also WON 20 one of those years)

Steve Carlton (a year after he won 27)

Luis Tiant

Mel Stottlemyre

Heck, go way back and Walter Johnson is on the list twice.

Repeat, I am not comparing Porcello to any of them.

There's hope, need to hold them.

Don't understand a couple of Farrell moves. Moreland PH for a guy that is hitting well in Travis. Save Moreland to PH later. No pinch hitter for Bogaerts who is in a bad slump when we have Devers avaialbe with Devers to third and Nunez to short. Bradley I understand, it just didn't work.

Way Farrell is glad he didn't put Moreland in to relieve. At least he put him the right base.

How many 4.6+ ERA pitchers have more Ws than Ls? And how many 4.6+ ERA pitchers have more Ls than Ws? ... in MLB history?

That's kind of the point.

Terrible at bat by Nunie. Terrible. That last swing looked like he decided to swing at an 0-2 pitch no matter what--and it's usually a waste pitch (which in fact it was).
