These Owners on the Sox will sell anything.

I am surprised that I do not hear this every game:

"This call to the bullpen is sponsored by Tampax. The official tampon of The Boston Red Sox. Have a leak that you want to stop? Tampax is here to plug that hole."

I agree with this. Last year was the outlier. He is a #4 innings eater with a 4.25 ERA. Coming off that outlier year, the FO was fooling itself thinking that they had 3 aces in the rotation and could get by with less runs. Porcello has always needed a lot of run support. Even in his Cy Young season, he got a ton of run support.

BLASPHEMY!!!!

It was a good idea that just did not work out!

One last tiny thought. If the Fenway fans haven't booed yet tonight, they are sheep. They pay a steep price for seats, parking, food, etc, and the players paid a ridiculous amount of money. And the ones over 30 with the long range contracts don't even have to play to get paid a ton. Look what the fans are paying Sandoval not to play for us. Price and Porcello between them are together getting paid $50M this year for basically hurting the team. How much is $50M? Billionaire Michael Dell just gave $36M for the victims of Harvey and is being lionized. Half of $50M is enough to live on comfortably for a lifetime and raise a family and send kids to college. And it's just one year and, this year, not even earned.

As you know, parking, food, and ticket prices have nothing to do with player salaries. They are set by what the market will bear, and capping what players make only puts money in the hands of the owners, who are perhaps less generous and social-minded than we might hope. There is only one way to make these prices go down--stop going.

You guys are tough. Even with their recent woes, the sox are still two games up in the L column for the east in September and have an easier schedule going forward than NY. Whatever DD's plan was, he's done a good job for this season. Maybe the idea that the sox were a super team was a bit overblown, but they've at least put themselves in a good position to see October baseball

There is no more time. He needs to get a phantom injury and Johnson has to be given a chance to start. No more time....

I like Johnson but what he ultimately gives is another 4/5 starter if he could stay healthy.

A 2 game lead is dogsquat, of course. It was a 5 game lead 3 days ago.

It just feels like this team has a lot of serious problems right now.

The only cure is winning games.

Of the last 24 games left, Sox only play 7 games with teams with a winning record, and Houston series might mean nothing for them. But it also might mean something too, depends on Cleveland.

If Houston takes off after the predictable drop in play from Cleveland (they're not winning out) then yes, that last weekend will be easy wins for you. If Houston has the 1 seed and it's a dogfight in the ALE, the Stros will intentionally gift those games to the sox. Houston owns us. They don't want to play anyone else in that first series.

That being said, if Cleveland and Houston are in a dogfight for the 1 seed, they'll play their hearts out
